Care for roasted maple necks

I'm hopefully receiving my new roasted maple neck soon.  I ordered it unfinished and I'm wondering what sort of care it should receive.  Anything particular that should be applied and how often? What is safe to clean it with?

Have the frets leveled, crowned, dressed and polished, the nut properly cut, then burnish the neck meat. Don't put anything on it that you wouldn't put in your eyes, although it's ok to clean it with naphtha every once in a while. Don't put any naphtha in your eyes.

Once you burnish it, you need nothing on it, as Cagey says.  I find i need to reburnish occasionally to keep it slick, but that's just a 15 minute job or so.
