Dude, I was extremely addicted to caffeine a few years ago.  I finally came to the realization that I was drinking at least 2 cups of coffee per day, and that if I stopped, it was hard for me to function.  So basically I got rid of all my coffee and tea (that part sucked... I had some really good loose leaf stuff from the British grocer that I just gave away to a friend) and I quit.  I didn't have much caffeine after that for a long time.  However, I've recently slipped back a little and now I'm having a little bit most days, like half a cup of coffee.  But let me tell you, quitting was really really hard.  I had headaches and fatigue every day for like 10 days, and then I was a little groggy for a few days after that.

What you have mentioned here, is EXACTLY how I felt in the first week or so of my holidays in August, when I went on a diet and started to hit the gym a bit in an effort to lose weight. I took the symptoms as part of changing my diet, but when I went back to work, I noticed that on my 4 day breaks (I have one per month) I came down with the same symptoms on about the 3rd day off.  When I am home, I don't drink a lot of coffee but mostly green tea, and certainly not much Coke or the like either. I mentioned this to a workmate, who had gone through a  detox program with his wife when they were trying to have children, and he said that's exactly what hit him and his wife and it was due to caffeine withdrawal......... Headaches almost as bad as migraines, believe me.

My band has this unusual addiction to Cherry Coke. Liters every jam session/practice. Those are about the most unhealthy parts of my week and the only time I really drink soft drinks.

Try Cherry Zero.  It's amazing shit.

Caffeine and sugar I can tolerate, but those fake sweeteners really scare me from a health perspective.

By the way, its REAL sugar I crave.  I hate the high fructose corn syrup, and seek out Mexican Coke whenever possible as it still contains the blessed white stuff--pure cane.  All jokes aside, it really is a better product.

I usually drink beer or Dr. Pepper, but in the winter I go for hot tea, or coffee, just plain ole coffee.  :dontknow:

Yes I know beer doesn't have caffeine in it....

Is that lemon peel/espresso beer?
That sounds terrible!

I remember that Coke Black crap that Coca-Cola made a few years ago. Basically a coffee flavored coke that tasted horrible.

2 cups a day is addicted?  Wow ... I have 2 cups after getting out of bed!
Back in my days as an assistant engineer, my coffee consumption was in pots per day, not cups!  I'm down to 3 cups a day (sometimes 4), but that's only because I REALLY like the taste of coffee.  I can function perfectly well without it.

BTW:  Coca-Cola is a definate close 2nd  ..... not so much for caffine, but as a thirst-quencher in the afternoon.

I am hearin' ya...
During my six years of going to the university and working, I drank a 10 cup pot before I went to school and then 2 or 3 Starbucks when I got work in the evening.
Now I normally drink one 24oz coffee in the morning.  I feel like I can almost say I don't drink coffee anymore in relation to my prior consumption.
A good cup of coffee is one of  my favorite pleasures...

New Belgium rules!  Fat Tire and 2 below are two of the best beers available.

Not a fan of Fat Tire myself.  I know a lot of people who love it, but to me it tastes like wet tree bark or something... I've noticed it with other Belgian beers, so it must be a characteristic of that style.  I've never tried the other one.

You guys with your 6 cups a day... geez, I think I would have a coronary.  I kind of scare myself a little when I have coffee or regular soda now because if I drink the same amount that I used to, I feel like I'm on speed or something.  My heart races and I get all jittery and I talk a lot.  But I used to do it every day.

I tend to drink 2-3 cups of coffee per day, especially while working (I'm doing a Master's and I also work as a freelance translator, so I spend a lot of time at home in front of the computer). There's also nothing quite like sitting down with a good coffee and a good book. It's all about simple pleasures, people. I don't usually go in those fancy Starbucks-style coffes, though once in a while some friends and I will go out for ridiculous $8 coffees and a good time is generally had by all. When it comes to the daily grind (get it?), however, I'll take it black, thank you very much. Noir, comme mon passé (literally "dark, like my past"), as the French say. Bonus points if it's strong enough to keep a spoon vertical.

When it comes to soda, I'm a die-hard Pepsi fan. It comes with being French-Canadian, I think. Pepsi and poutine: the dynamic duo.

Sometimes I'll drink tea, usually Earl Grey or Orange Pekoe, and some of those herbal teas aren't bad either; a former room mate left behind some vanilla black tea, and it's rather enjoyable.

Also, my favourite coffee mug has Wile E. Coyote on it, so I win in that department.  :laughing7:

I got mad at this coffee shop once because I ordered an iced tea (it was hot out) and got some horrible mango ginger crap. They wouldn't refund my $2, so my next day off I went up there and bought a bottomless cup of coffee for $2 and sat there for over ten hours. Drank them out of three caraffes(sp?). I feel I got my money back. I also had a panic attack and spent several hours sitting in my closet with every light in the house on.

I eased off on the coffee since then.

Me neither, that stuff is nasty.. Stella Artois is a good Belgian beer, never tried Giddy Up. Don't think I really want to either. I like coffee and I like beer, but they should never be in the same bottle... :tard:

I prefer milk in my coffe, and I always make sure to drink it after meals, or else my stomach gets angry at me.

There should be some kind of law against all these perfumed/fruit teas. I can tolerate jasmine tea, but that's it - I don't get why everything has to be so goddamn sweet these days.

Iced tea should come from a mason jar with two cavities worth of sugar in it, and a spoon.

I can explain in one sentence. My family comes from Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas, so sweet iced tea was quite literally in my veins at birth.

Kbo, iced tea is a must if you love tea but live somewhere where it gets up over 100 degrees outside.  I can understand why people from cold climate areas would think we are insane for having cold tea, but there is a very good reason for it.  I pretty much never touch a hot beverage during the summer, but iced tea is very refreshing.  Fruit flavors are much much better if the tea is cold, it just adds to the refreshment.  But I do agree that there is usually too much sugar in the prepared fruit teas.  I usually make my own peach iced tea during the summer with just a hint of sweetness and a peach aftertaste, and it is really good.
