Building my first pedal. It needs a name!

From A Clockwork Orange, since this is a true bypass pedal, call it, "No time for the old in-out."

I'd go for "Stormtrooper of Death", but that's my answer to everything.

im not good at naming things but can i ask what type of pedal you plan to start with?

True bypass.  The really easy pedal. Actually, I might go a little more complicated and make it a true bypass looper.

I slept on it and I really want to do the characters so that when I make a shredder death-metal type pedal, it can be the Headless Horseman.  I made a list of names last night, and I was thinking of a Gregor Samsa pitch shifter.  That would be so perfect.  I loved The Metamorphosis, such a weird story (even though it was sad).  I have no idea how I would build that though, considering it's a digital pedal and there are no kits available, so maybe I would just make it an octave pedal.

I think a fitting name for the true bypass is Jekyll & Hyde since it goes from clean to the effects loop.

Some other ideas:  Cthulu Distortion, Wooster & Jeeves Analog Delay, Bartleby Envelope Filter, Moby Dick Slow Gear, Robin Hood 10 Band EQ, Cheshire Cat (or Aslan... haven't decided yet) Fuzz.  If I made a pedal that combined fuzz with something else, I would name it Aslan VS. The White Witch.  Now I just have to figure out a way to use Beowulf and Dorian Gray...

You forgot Ignatius Reilly.
I really need to read A Confederacy of Dunces one of these days.  It's on my list.

Oh, that's terrible.  Hilarious, but terrible.

Looks like we got ourselves a reader....

Edit: Confederacy is a cracking book. The phrase "my valve has slammed shut" has so many uses in everyday life.

Unfortunately those are specific to the Disney version of Snow White, which is copyrighted.  And we all know how rabid Disney is about copyright infringement.  I'm suprised they haven't sued any kindergartners for drawing pictures of Mickey Mouse to go on their mom's fridge.

Here's the picture I am putting on my rat clone

why not names of English royalty
so for a direct bypass looper call it the Henry the 8th and set it up for 6 pedals
next make a few distortion pedals and name them after monarchs who wined a lot
the Elizabeth peal would be a Flanger (never knew what side she would take)
Reverb, king George the 3rd, you know a little boisterous and war like
a chorus would be named the queen Victoria

That's a cool idea too.

Wow, that evil Mickey reminds me of this time I was at the pub and I overheard a guy tell the bartender this story about doing mushrooms.  He said he had a hallucination that Mickey Mouse was chasing a hotdog with legs around with a cleaver.

First thought: political thinkers/philosophers.

Macchiavelli Fuzz
Thomas Hobbes Leviathan Metal Distortion
Rousseau Phaser
Sigmund Freud Bitcrusher
Karl Marx Suboctave
Thomas Paine Octave
David Hume Reverb
Jeremy Bentham Delay

Wayy too many philosophers to make fun of.  :icon_jokercolor: My favorite is the Sigmund Freud Bitcrusher.  :laughing8:

It would be funny to make a pedal like this with a red button stop switch as the nose:

I have made a couple of bad joke pedals.  The Circuit for the SHO by ZVex, and many of the diode variations so you don't blow the BS170 transistor is well known.  I made one for a friend with an aluminum box that had, "Das Boost," etched on it.  Stole the movie poster picture from something online and photoshopped it with the extra, "s," in there.  Too much fun.  I also have a BYOC Big Muff triangle pedal that has Chuck Norris with an Uzi etched on it with the text, "The Delta Fuzz" at the bottom.  I have to redo it because the etching process didn't work all that well on that one.  Movie puns and bad joke pedals tend to be something I spend quite a bit of time trying to get to work out.  It should be fun to see where this thread goes.

I'm hoping I can get out to the workshop tomorrow so I can get started drilling the holes in the enclosure.  I haven't been feeling well though, so we'll see.

Dammit Hannaugh, my Strat won't leave me alone about your Strat. :laughing3:  I think it was checking out your other one too.
