I just rebuilt an old stratocaster I've had for nearly 18 years, this inspired me to build a guitar from scratch and of course I found out about Warmoth. Ordered a Jazzmaster body routed for humbuckers in Black Korina and it just came a few days ago. Here she is w/ and w/out the pickguard in:

I applied a coat of Z-Poxy Wednesday afternoon and sanded it yesterday, then put another coat on last night. I was originally going to stain it but the Z-Poxy gave it a beautiful color so I'm just going to move on to Nitro now. Here are some bad lighting pics of the 2 coats of Z-Poxy:

Great job! Love the figuring on the wood, and the stain you did. That random orange stripe on the figuring of the body by the neck pocket looks pretty cool! :blob7:

I was hoping for more of the orange/redish streaks but I was glad that there was any at all. It'll be shooting out of the neck plate!

Thanks for the compliments, it's actually not a stain just the tint of the z-poxy grain filler. I'll take some more photos this weekend when I get the neck on - it's a Warmoth jazzmaster maple w/ black block inlays - i had a bunch of problems with finishing the neck due to the tinted nitro running so the neck looks kinda botched color wise but it has a nice coat of clear nitro and is smooth. Can't wait to hear this thing with the EMG 60 & 85 it'll have.

Lookin' great .... black korina really makes for a superb looking instrument!

EMG eh ... so not going for a surfy twang machine then?  :party07:

This looks completely awesome. Seriously.

It's decided. I have to drop some cash on some BK this summer.

BK is the best wood around IMHO.  That is shapping up to be a masterpeice.

I agree...never can have too much of the orange streaks.  Glad to see some Humbuckers going in too.

all you need know is a floyd... :laughing8:

looks killer! (btw, this forum has a bad case of bk obsession . . . just sayin', theres other wood in the forest  :icon_thumright:)

your BK is killer though, especially with the tort pickguard

Here is a quick shot I took last night of my wife holding the finished product. I stole a B string from another guitar because the bridge was slightly misaligned with the strings holes on the body and it was worse at the B & High E strings (and the guitar I stole this from had a broken high E string haha).

I stole the rest of the strings from my other guitar so I could see what it sounded like and it sounds incredible (through a Marshall jcm900 mkiii into an Emperor 6x12 cab).

Only problem is that even with multiple configurations I cannot get the two volume pots to work. Everything is connected via the easy EMG cabling, no soldering (haven't hooked up the 3-way switch) - Every way I've tried to run the wires based on EMG's diagrams the volume pots will not control the pickup volume, let alone the overall volume period. Anyone have any ideas?

I just hooked up EMGs with dual volumes. Each pickup goes to a volume control, which connects to the buss board. Take the output direct to the jack. If you aren't using a switch, did you short the switch terminals so that both pickups are switched on?

sweet guitar. Can't say i care for the look of the neck with the body color, but still overall a very classy aesthetic. The cream pups on tortoise guard was an excellent choice

I did not short the switch terminals - where exactly would I do that?

On the buss board, there are screw down terminals at the end for the swtich. Three are labelled BR, NK, and O (for bridge, neck, and output). If you connect wires from BR and NK to O, it will be as if both pickups are switched on.
