Black Korina for Regal body?

OK you folks who have done any sort of LP, Regal, SC1 Warmoth builds with a Black Korina body, how did it turn out in terms of tone? Was the result what you thought? For that type of guitar you would have had to face the question of mahogany because of the history of that wood for an LP. What were your conclusions after it was all said and done? How would you answer a question of how it compares to mahogany?  Whether I go with mahogany or Black Korina I am planning to use a flame maple top, mahogany neck and ebony board. For what its worth I will play blues and can't resist some ZZ Top songs for this guitar project when it is all done. Thanks.

I did a Black Korina VIP when I worked at Warmoth.
It is similar to mahogany, but with the lower mids shifted slightly higher.  It was paired with an all rosewood neck with a Pearly Gates in the Neck and I think it was a good fit for the ZZ tones you're looking for.

It was a bit lighter, weight wise, than mahogany too.
