What do you think?
*Simply* a 3A birds'eye maple with clear gloss or bird's eye/quilt (rare) maple with gloss finish ?
(nitro? poly? Tung-oil?)

Seems like a curly/birdseye combo to me. At least "A"  :laughing7:

I agree: lose the gold and go chrome!

OK, I also hate gold hardware (especially with maple neck :p), but...it'is not my guitar.
It 's just a picture: I am interested only in the wood *grade*

I don't think what one manufacturer may call 5A is transferrable to what another may call it... What Warmoth may call 3A is possibly 5A for someone else. No hard set formula for grading, it is probably all subjective.

Gold on maple is gorgeous, especially on that neck.

Agreed!!
also, I love the big eyes (that usually come with some curl) much better than hundreds of tiny 5A eyes..

This is my Warmoth Tele neck. It is as of now an unknown age probably from the 80's or early 90's is best I can figure out. I have been told it is the equal of a typical AAAAA neck.

In your opinion,
which finish exalt  three-dimensional bird's eye?
I think clear gloss

I would use some transtint amber dye to make them pop! this will also add a but of a vintage feel to the neck.

Any finish.  I have a 3A with Satin and a plain vanilla Birdseye with Vintage Tint Satin.  They both look 3D.

Do you have any pics?
Thanks
