because telecasters are pretty

I like it a lot. Elevates my BP because it looks similar in a lot of ways to how I expect my Tele build to look in a few weeks.

What kind of pickups? Looks like GFS "Modern Vintage" which I what I am putting in my build.

One thing I would change is the chrome screws on the blade switch. You can get beveled screws in black from Warmoth if you don't mind doing a counter-sink on the body. Its what I'm going to do (carefully).

Good job! Hows it play?

Yep, those are the GFS "Modern Vintage" pickups.
I thought about black screws for the blade switch, but all of the adjustment screws are chrome/Stainless so I figured it would be better.  If I switched the others to black I would have gone to black for the blade.  I like it.

I have not played it much.  I am doing the setup.  The neck feels amazing.  Very smooth and easy to slide around on.  It takes some getting used to though.  Anchoring your thumb feels different as it doesn't "stick" anymore.  I will be able to give a better review of the pickups once I have lived with them for a bit and have them adjusted.

Is that a Tele front pickup route you have on that body and if so, how did you like the fit of the front GFS (Tele style) pup before you put the cover on?

Asking because I am getting a Tele route and did not get the cover when I ordered the pups  -- wondering if I am going to like how it looks...

It is the standard telephone route.  I didn't like what it would look like without the cover.  There is a lot of space around the pickup and it isn't shaped like the route.

OHMUHGAWD That zebrawood, it's like pornography. :toothy12:

Beautyfull guitar. The body and the black hardware works really well... Very unique  :)

Well I finally got around to taking some pictures of the finished guitar.  It is all assembled including the nice little sp logo that Dangerous made for me.  blah blah blah here are the pictures.

I am really happy with the guitar.  The GFS pickups took a little fiddling to get to where I wanted them, but they sound pretty darn good to my ears.  To be fair I have not played a lot of standard telecasters so if you are looking for a specific sound I couldn't help you there.  The pickups sound brighter than my SD phat cats.  They sound great through my Fender amp on the clean channel and get dirty if they need to.  When you apply so overdrive or distortion they have a more classic rock feel than the phat cats which feel more modern.  Works out great for me since I can cover more music tonally.

If that thing sounds/plays half as good as it looks, you're a very lucky man. That is one beautiful instrument.

Wow. That zebrawood with that finish and that hardware. Perfect. I think this is the best looking natural masked binding I've seen so far.

Great build, great pic -- looks awesome.

On my just finished Tele build, I used the same GFS pickups and it took a fair amount of fiddling with pickup height to get a good clean tone without sacrificing tonal definition and attack. I discovered they are VERY sensitive to height and proximity to the strings, just a half turn on a mounting screw can make a huge difference. I wound up angling them closer at the high E, mostly on the bridge. Still experimenting (phillips screwdriver close at hand whenever I play) but like you I am finding they cover a broad range of tones and once adjusted right sound pretty sweet. A bit wooly and boisterous up high but controllable with volume. In some ways, I like them better than the DiMarzio's in my Strat.

Definite GOM right there.  I don't think it matters what goes up against it.  Every element works in a big way.  Well done.
