I prefer to use Gotoh resolite  or Hipshot ultralight machines... the only thing stopping me from buying WARMOTH bass necks is the 17mm holes... :(

+1 on that.  Give them a call when you place your order and they'll do it

+ 2 on contacting Warmoth and asking..
Do you need a smaller or larger hole? If smaller, maybe there's a sleeve insert that can go into the 17mm hole?

Warmoth sells bass tuners that need a 14mm hole so on a build to order neck there are more options than 17mm. See attachment to post which is from the Jazz bass neck builder.

For Hipshot...

1/2" string post fits 11/16" headstock holes. that is approx 17mm.

I made the exact same screen capture until I noticed it attached to your post.

Hipshot does make 1/2" (17.5mm) and 3/8" (14mm) USA versions, but they weight exactly the same. They do live up to their name and are roughly half the weight of a normal bass tuner.

The "licensed" Hipshot Ultra Lite 1/2" and the Gotoh Res-o-lite (GB528) uses a 16mm hole.
