We are now announcing the August, 2018 Guitar of the Month contest!  August's contest will be open to all finishes but still requires at least a Warmoth neck or body to qualify.

Please read the GOM rules, which have been refined, with some slight changes, and are posted in a sticky in this forum area.

Submissions must be sent to uwfgom@gmail.com, and contain two images no greater than 1024x768, along with your description and details of the instrument.  Send your submission in plain text email.  Your photos must be attachments to the email.  Your UnOfficialWarmoth Forum user name must be included in the body of the email.

In turn, your images will added to this message, which is August's submission thread.

Submissions will be accepted until exactly 7 days from the date and time of this post, so get your cameras clicking!

As usual, discussion about the submissions can take place below.

Please do not post additional photos in any replies to this thread.  Links to other UW threads or external sites are fine.

Please try to stick to the entry requirements:
Two 1024x768 pixel images maximum as attachments please, not embedded in the email or linked to external sites.

An image for the purposes of this contest is a single photograph, not a multiple image or collage.

Include your UnOfficialWarmoth Forum user name.

Sorry, but entries that do not meet these requirements may not be included in the contest. If you're having technical difficulties, get in touch!  (But only about contest entries please!)

Good luck, and may the best guitar/bass win!

Guitar #9 docteurseb

northern lights Clapton style guitar

Body:
Warmoth swamp ash Strat body with flame maple top.
Hollow construction.
Cosmo black Wilkinson tremolo, metal knobs and jack plate.
Ruthenium Schaller strap locks.

Neck:
Musikraft 1/4 sawn flame maple with ebony fingerboard.
Clapton contour (reshaped to a thinner/rounder profile).
Stainless steel 6150 frets.
MOP side dots, no fingerboard inlays.
Ruthenium Schaller locking tuners with ebony buttons.
I had a lot of fun rolling the fingerboard edges on that one.

Finish:
"Northern lights"-like stain on neck and body, with translucent violet/blue burst. The finish was done by a pro shop located in south CA.

Electronics:
Vintage Noiseless pickups with Fender Eric Clapton 25dB mid-boost circuit. The only trick was getting a 50kOhms volume pot with long enough shaft for the 1/4" thick top (the pot from Fender isn't long enough), the only place I found one was sold by WD music.

hchoe741, christ462000 and kingua get this month's contest started! Good luck all!

Dang!  Lots o' natural lumber to look at this month so far.  This should be fun!

This is one ridiculously stacked GotM! Loving the natural finish trend. Good luck all :eek:ccasion14: .

Wow!  Some seriously beautiful guitars this month!  I'm very much digging the natural finish trend, too :)...Warmoth does such an amazing job with their woods and finishes, it's hard to cover 'em up :)  Good luck, everyone!

Sorry - I just can't vote for any entry using a 90 degree connector on a strat jack. Where'd I put the eye bleach.

Kidding... but yes it's jarring.

I can see the reasoning with the 90 degree connector. It's easy to unplug. Of course, one can always flip the jack plate over.

Wow that korina strat body looks awesome! The finish looks great too, especially for being totally homemade!

My thoughts exactly. I'm already conflicted. And not in two ways but several ... ???
