Anyone not like the feel of playing flat-top guitars?

I actually prefer the looks of the flat top Warlock so much more. but I can tell you those bevels are sorely needed on that guitar.

I dunno what it is about the flat-top that I don't like; I think the guitar looks funny without the bevels, but it is a very sharp guitar, and yes, the bevels are certainly needed!

I owned a LP once, found it not my thing, I own a PRS custom 22 and love it, my favorite guitar just to play was a Strat till I built my Tell with tummy and forearm cut, now that is, Even over my 335, actually I love the sound of the 335 but hate the body
so put me in the flat top category but with cut outs

PS, I find the strat style controls the easiest to manipulate, they are just placed where the hand falls to, and less knobs the better, my favorite is 2 knobs and a switch

I think the flat top just looks evil... and the bevels just make it look nicer... and its not a guitar meant to look nice. it needs to look evil. and evil=pointy

If I wanna look super-evil, I'll go buy a Beast.  :party07:

Don't get me wrong, if someone were to hand me a Custom Shop Flat-Top Warlock, I wouldn't turn it down, but I like the additional definition to the body that the bevels give it.  One guitar that I find myself wanting is a neck-through Eagle, and I have no clue why...  :icon_scratch:

I will honestly never play a B.C. Rich again. I refuse. I'd play a Gibson FireBird X before another B.C. Rich.

but I would play a one off Warlock.

maybe RAN could build it.

Well, you'd certainly not wanna play a Rich during the time period they were owned by Class Axe, that's for sure!  Nowadays, they're much improved since Class Axe ran them into the ground during the 90s, but they'll never be as good again as when the Rico family owned the company.

If you want a "real" B.C. Rich, the only place you'll find one is Moser Custom Shop.  Neal Moser was behind all the Custom Shop guitars at B.C. Rich in the 70's and 80's, at the height of their populariy and when their quality was second to none.

I don't want or care what a real B.C. Rich is. I just never want to deal with that company again.

Mine was a 2004 NJ warlock.

everything on that guitar sucked.

I grew up on TOMs and just don't ever feel comfortable with Tele bridges or hard tail Fender types. I recently got a Jazzmaster w a Gotoh 510 and it feels natural to me.

Although I have my favourite preferences regarding guitars I also can appreciate the different feel other models and set-ups can give you. I don't think I would play the same number the same way using a Stratocaster vs. a Les Paul.

I think it can be ... inspirational ... trying out guitars that not necessarily puts you in the comfort zone playing-wise.

That is very true. I find that my playing swings a lot more when I pick up my Strat, whereas my LPS gets me playing harder-edged stuff.

And individual tastes are interesting: I, for example, don't like the feel of carved-top guitars--the strings are too far away from the top of the guitar.

this is very good to know. the 510 was what i had in mind for my future Jazzmaster build.

I also agree that playing guitars that feel different encourage you to write differently. Even though i ultimately was not happy with my Warmoth tele and I parted it out, I still wrote at least one or two things on there that just don't feel or sound right on my other guitars

Then why'd you buy it?  :icon_tongue:

Just curious, but what exactly sucked about it?  I've kicked around the idea of getting a newer NJ Warlock...

It was my very first guitar. I saw the Most metalest, most badass, blackest, pointiest, I had to have the humbuckers. had to have the Floyd.

the floyd never laid flat, even with 5 springs on 10's.(So sky high action) the Truss rod never worked. tuners slipped. A fake Tone Pot. and a rectangular neck profile are all my reasons for hating it.

hating it so bad that I now am unable to consider the brand. regardless of their quality to date. My first experience with a guitar was horrendous, because of B.C. Rich. And I don't think I'll ever let that go.

Wow, sounds like that guitar was absolute trash.  I can't say I've had the same experiences, but I'm not going to justify them to you.  Your opinion is your opinion, and it sounds like it's for good reason!  I'm sure I'd share the same opinion, had I been in your shoes.

My first guitar playing experience was also very unpleasant.  I was forced into getting a guitar I absolutely hated.  I didn't know the first thing about guitars, and I knew it was trash.  I got stuck with some 3/4-sized guitar by some company called, "Gremlin."  I've found very little info online about them, but from my understanding, they're some half-assed mail-order company.  :sad1:

I will say that the man I sold my guitar to (I had to, to pay a ticket) repaired the truss rod. put in his own springs, strings, tone pot, and put it up for sale.

I checked it out. it was actually quite playable. But still... its just left a bad taste.
