Nothing at all. This is just an "ease of use" thing. I could have multiple tunings without having to swap guitars mid-set. As I get older, I prefer to do less tap-dancing and appreciate an elegant solution.

The auto-tuners take maybe half the time (at least, that's about how long the Robot took when I tried it at GC). So, taking a minute to tune vs. taking 30 seconds to tune... it doesn't seem like a function I would pay hundreds of dollars extra for.

And yes I know they can use a guitar tuner, but anything that makes it easy to get started the better

True, but I don't think that many beginning guitarists would go out and get a $1600 guitar for their first axe.
