I'm amazed at the folks at carvin for putting together such a cool package with midi compatibility at the relatively easy price point of $899. I'm of course talking about the carvin v3 combo amp. http://www.carvinguitars.com/guitaramps/v3series.php

Does anybody else know of good amps with three or more channels and midi compatibility that can compete price-wise with the carvy?  :icon_biggrin:

For a second there I thought it was a guitar synth - which would have been really cool.  but - it's just using the MIDI control packets to switch channels, effects loops, etc.

I'm guessing that for the majority of applications, good old footswitches are good enough.  For fancy rack rigs used by touring folks,  If they are heavily into midi, they'll have a switcher for the amps, pedals, cabs, guitars - and a switcher built into an amp would not save them much.  I'm guessing that's why no one else has done it.

Interesting amp though.

The reason I am interested is because I am also looking at various fx units with midi compatibility. If I could switch fx and channels with the same buttons, I imagine that it would minimize my tapdancing. I know a guy who does the same thing with a mesa boogie mark VI and an alesis quadraverb. After his programming he is able to switch between chorusing cleans and flanging distortions (or whatever) with just a single tap on a rocktron midimate. He has them programmed by song for his band in the order that he needs each sound.

I run with a Rivera Knucklehead Reverb 100 and a Crate Shockwave 3500, the crate does not have midi, but the rivera does.  On the floor I have a Boxx GT 10 and replaced my rivera's midi footswitch with a Roland FC300 (i think that's what its called)  It's nice because the GT-10 has relay switching so I can hook up a couple TRS cables to its out put and use that to switch channels on my non midi amp, and trigger that switch using a midi signal from my foot controller to the GT10.  so I can effectively switch every parameter in my Gt-10, along with any parameter in my rivera amp (reberb, boost channel etc.) as well as switch channels on my crate at the same time.  All with one midi button press.

It takes a lot of programming though, but when you know what you want, it works out.
