Well, so much for the in progress part lol.  Just moving this here to keep things clean.

Once the neck arrives, we rock!

Going to do up some threaded inserts for the rear control plate.  No matter how gentle I am, I always strip out the holes.  There's also plenty of room left for the piezo electronics.  Once I decide to move on that, I'll paint the inner control cavity in flat black for aesthetics.  Until then:

Nice. I'm looking forward to seeing this one done and to hear your impressions of playing the Velocity body. I've been curious about it since they came out with it but have had too many other projects going on to pony up to buy one.

Thanks, man.  It honestly feels like a carved top tele.  I've got a couple of spare necks lying around.  It's very comfy.  I think the body weighs in around 4-4.5 lbs fully loaded.  Nice little slab of mahogany.  Hopefully have some completed pics up by Monday.  Have an Afra/Black Ebony Vortex neck with trap MOP inlays en route.  May enter this one in GOM.  Who knows??

Just curious, what's the batt box powering?
Looks like a simple 3 way with a humbucker/split on the volume pot with an SC in the neck from what I can see.

future piezo saddles/electronics install

We shall see!

Coincidentally, Nickel/chrome hardware also looks great on this color!  Almost installed a spare Chrome TOM on this one instead, but really dig the current theme.

Tap the holes. Even the "self-tapping" inserts have a tough time with many of the hardwoods guitar bodies/necks are made of. But, you can cut nice clean threads in those woods. Trick is figuring out the outside thread pitch of your inserts. They often don't tell you, so you need a caliper to mark off a 1/4", then count the threads and multiply by 4.

Frank--Are those Velocity bodies as small as they appear to be in photos? I've never seen one next to another guitar, so I can't gage its relative size...smaller than a Tele?
Thanks,
Greg

Not even close!  Here's the Velocity on top of my Warmoth Tele. These are lined up at the rear strap buttons.
