OUTSTANDING!! (...in his field...)

not sure what that means but I will take it.  Will try the burst tomorrow.  I will heat the garage to about 75 then shut off the heat so I can spray.  Should be able to get it done before it cools.

A bunch of comedians here!  I think we should stick to building guitars!! :laughing7:

small amount of burst done.  I am very happy considering I am custom mixing the dye.  This hid most of the glue issues found on the $100 body.

some metal flake on the back is up next.

That's getting to be real pretty. I don't think I've ever seen a treatment like that before. Good choice.

OK...We have seen the front.  This is what he wants on the back.  I shot some fine (that's the size) silver flake over the back.  IF you remember the back had a base of solid silver, then I sprayed the same tone I did the front.  The flake is over top of that.

Going to wait for this to dry and finish the clear.  Should be done spraying tomorrow.

Trying lots of new things here.  I have shot flake before but never in lacquer.  It went on great.  Unfortunately it is going to take a few additional layers than normal to completely bury it in lacquer.  Whe using automotive paints it goes much faster.

I know I'm impressed. Flake is tough to get on evenly, but it looks like you've nailed it. Do go out of your way to get lotsa clearcoat on there. Flake does NOT sand well, so you don't want to burn through the cover coats.

Thanks Cagey.  That means a lot.  I have never had an issue with flake....as long as I remember to take the screen filter out of my HVLP spray gun... :laughing3:

I hit the flake with some 1000 grit before the final coats then used the rest of my lacquer to coat it.  Probably close to  8 fluid ounces, or lots and lots of coats.  Drying patiently now.

here is the completed project.  Not bad for $125.  Sounds pretty good too.  It has a faulty volume pot (will not completely shut off) but other than that it works perfect.  It is hard to get the flake to show up...it is amazing looking
