A Tale of Two Teles

That's a fine gift to find under the tree. Now, if there was only a way to have Santa pay for it........

this one is going up for sale.....I have had it up on Facebook for 30 minutes and already had three people interested.  I got the body SUPER cheap....

I put a neck on the other tele.  My son was running out of funds so we borrowed the neck from another build that I was not happy with.  Goncalo Alves and Bocote with SS frets.  This is burnished to 12000 grit and is slick as snot!!!  it started like as a strat until I cut the headstock into a Warhead like shape.  Kind of between a strat and tele!!

I think the wood really goes well with the more natural pine.  This is not the Gibson scale my son wanted but beggars cannot be choosers.

This sucker resonates to the end of time.  One of the best sounding "unplugged" guitars I have built.  It must be the pine because this neck did not sing as much in the alder body it was previously in.  I wish the pine was not so soft.  I did this one in poly.  We will see if it hold up better then the pine bass I finished in nitro.  Either way, dings will be accepted as this is a reliced guitar anyhow.

My son is taking it to college in Nashville so it will be a good test!!!!

That turned out real nice! I had some doubts about how that big knot would take a finish, but apparently that was not a problem. BTW, form experience I can tell you this: at college, dings are to be expected!

Thanks.  I still have a Yamaha acoustic and charvel that show the wear of college.  Like the time I threw my keys across the room and impaled the acoustic.  Yes....it involved both a female and alcohol.

I'm short an acoustic as a result of mixing alcohol and a wife. I know several others who've reduced their collections the same way. I guess it's pretty common.

I'll see you and raise you.

I once had a Charvel acoustic given from the ex-wife, which I promptly parted with voluntarily after the divorce some 20+ years ago.  Couldn't stand to look at it and be reminded of her.
