A SG, kinda

Parts are coming in. I mean this is gonna be a real mishmash of parts. I saw a few like this on the net and thought this body with a Strat neck is kinda fun. Got a Seymour Duncan Benedetto B6 for the neck and a Bare Knuckle Mule for the bridge. I think I'll just do clear coat of nitro for a finish. Keeping it fun. We'll see how it turns out and sounds in there end.

Watching this one, should be very cool. Interesting pickup combination.
Ya I really wanted to try this Benedetto neck pickup. Only thing Benedetto I can afford 😂. Seymour has a PAF Benedetto that says it works well as a bridge. I had the bareknuckle and its alnico IV vs the V of the seymour, both versions of a PAF style so hopefully they will sound good.

It doesn't matter. It will sound/feel/play the same even if you anchor the strings all the way down at the strap hanger. It's the bridge placement that's important. And keep in mind that once intonated the high E will be closest to the scale length of the neck. All the rest of the strings will end up somewhat longer. You don't have a lotta saddle adjustment range with a TOM, so careful placement is important.
Ha, reading up on bridge and tailpiece placement and one of the first posts I found had an answer from Cagey himself! Love it.

The wasn't sure how everything would line up for string height. Was worried it be way to low or high but with the shim removed and the saddles slammed they are the same height as the frets so I think it'll be perfect. Unfortunately the body mounts weren't in the box of the tail piece. I do have a set from Schaller that is the same thread. I contacted the seller but maybe I'll just use the schallers.

Made some progress. Got the whole drilled for mounting the neck and for the tail piece. I don't have a drill press but made a work around with a drill block. Took my time laying it out. It all worked. Made sure to drill a hole in the post closest to the control cavity and ran a ground wire. I'll layout the control cavity, prep the body and start spraying soon.
