A Modern Contoured Heel

Here's a glimpse into my personal struggle: when shooting videos there are couple personal guitars I always have to hold a certain way to keep the peace.

Have you noticed any difference in tone in a contoured heel? It's interesting that Anderson, Suhr, and so many other shops in that level don't sculpt down to anything like the AANJ. Intuitively I'd imagine that keeping as much surface area as possible at the heel would be great for tone, but I also wonder if in reality it might not matter.

It has zero affect on tone. With Suhr, it depends on the model. The S and T models are more traditional, while their more modern models do have a fully contoured heel.
With 21 or 22 frets, the Fender and Warmoth contoured heel is adequate. More of a comfort thing than a access thing. But with 24 frets, you really need the AANJ for practicality.

I wouldn't hold it against you (although I know others would).
I fully expect an employee to have certain benefits that non-employees would not have.
