    Toneport and latency

I used to have latency problems on my old Apple G3 iMac using Pro Tools too.  My interface is a Tascam US-122 USB interface.  I now have a 1.9 Ghz G5 iMac with 1.5 GB of RAM, and use Garageband now.  (It's the last of the Power PC processors, just prior to the release of the Intel processors in...

Apparently all touring musicians think they're it.

Sounds like my hometown girl (Storm Large) should have one that contest.  She's a local from my town.  I'd bet she'd be more real than that Lukas dude.  There's no excuse for being full of yourself.  It takes all types I suppose.  Luke's band, management, whatever sound like a bunch of pickless...

    Blown Pa? Blown Speakers?

Well, good luck with the in-law.  DJ's are a different breed than live sound engineers.  I've never been a DJ, but I've seen the crap equipment they use sometimes.  I've mixed live shows for years (from jazz/blues to hard rock/metal), and the gear is completely different.  That's all I care to...

    Blown Pa? Blown Speakers?

Sorry, I didn't mean to come off so rude.  I'm just speaking from experience.  You could probably throw in a cheap pair of Emi's like Jack suggested for less than $200 and give the cabs back, and never use them again.  Bottom line, you blew somebody else's cabs, and you need to replace the...

    Blown Pa? Blown Speakers?

Jeez, just get the darn Emi's like Jack suggested.  Anything cheaper, and you're wasting you time and looking to blow another set.  You can't get much more bottom shelf than that.  PA cabs need to take a beating, and you seem unwilling to realize that and put the right drivers in there for that...

    What is your Day Job?

Work at a commercial printing prepress trade shop as a production coordinator, and sometimes Photoshop color operator.  Much of the work has a "swoosh" on it.  Several apparel clients, lots  of ad agencies, color retouching and page layout work of various product catalogs, etc.  Fringe benefit...

    Blown Pa? Blown Speakers?

DJ speakers with Piezoi's and the like...probably fried those 12's.  Running the bass through the PA probably did it.  Also I'd question the power handling of those speakers.  You say 300 watts...I'm guessing that's peak power, and the amp was just too much for them along with the bass guitar...

Celebrity Musicians YOU have met . . .

Only met 2 in person...Pat Travers and Steve Vai.  Met Pat at a meet & greet after one of his shows.  He signed one of my guitars for me.  Met Steve Vai backstage during the Sex & Religion tour.  Ike Willis got me back stage...he's a local from around here.  I used to go to quite a few of Ike's...

    What Tuner do you use?

Peterson Strobostomp on the board, and the built-in on my POD 2.0 when I'm practicing / noodling around.

    Strat Players...

Thanks for posting those.  I'd never heard of Steffen Schackinger before.  Now, I'm an instant fan.  Incredible stuff there.

what would be your DREAM rig ?

I'm really liking my current rig.  An 18 watt GDS head into a 4x12 loaded with various pre-Rola Celestions (G12M25's and G12H30's).  One thing I'd love to try is a 2x12" loaded up with some Alnico Blues for this amp.  That being said, an early original Marshall offset JTM-45 into a Blue-loaded...

    57/62s or fralin vintage hots

I have a set of Fralin Vintage Hots in a swamp ash / maple Strat.  I do like them a lot; but I lean towards no overwinds on everything now.  In hindsight, I would have preferred a more vintage wind with slightly less output.  I'd try your original set first, and save some dough.  The Fralin set...

    DHL shipping

We use them at work sometimes.  I did have a problem once where a package was opened, and delivered (home ground delivery) to the recipient address as an empty box.  Keep in mind this was a domestic shipment within the U.S., so no customs to deal with.  The contents were found about a  week...

    oh my...............

Darn is right.  Too cost prohibitive for my blood; but, then, anything is these days.  I feel fortunate to have 2 guitars and one amp at this point.  I'm no pro, and don't play out too much anymore, so that's all I need.

    Recording with Sonar

It's interesting that nobody has mentioned the master / summed output level.  Preventing clipping by properly setting the trim level on the recording track is one thing; but the summed output at mixdown is quite another.  You can still clip the master output if all the individual tracks are in...
