Srat wiring~ Two tone or master tone?

One option I use on one of my Warmoth strats is a master volume, master tone and blender pot set-up. The blender pot blends in the neck pickup with the bridge pickup - fully in one direction it's the bridge pickup on its own, fully in the other it's both the neck and bridge pickup on together...

Tonerider pickups: (spefically the humbuckers) any love for 'em?

Don't know about the humbuckers but I've got a set of vintage tele pickups and they're great - I actually prefer them to the very expensive (relatively) Fralin pickups I have in my other tele. Go figure...

Why synthetic pearl for block/trapezoid neck inlay?

I'm looking to build my 4th Warmoth soon (so far, one strat, a tele and a thinline) and I was thinking of a bastard child of a Fender and a Gibson. I want to have a bound neck with block inlays, but have a question - why doesn't Warmoth offer real rather than synthetic pearl for their block...

    anyone ever just buff?

Yes, I've done this twice now. My first Warmoth build was a Mary Kaye finish blond swamp ash Tele and I followed the ReRanch 101, what seemed to be considered best practice finishing with nitro. The result was really good, deep shine etc. but it took a long time and lots of effort (which was...

Any advantage in locking tuners for a tele?

Oops, missed out the period (full stop) after the first 'non-locking' - it makes sense if you imagine it's there. Last time I try to post something with a wailing five-year-old on my knee!

Any advantage in locking tuners for a tele?

Hey, I've just looked up the weight of Gotoh vintage locking tuners against Gotoh vintage non-locking Locking tuners are 160.121 gms, non-locking are 161.028 gms.  :icon_scratch:

Any advantage in locking tuners for a tele?

Thanks for all your replies - I'm going for a very light weight Thinline - I hadn't really considered the extra weight. I do stretch my strings but still have problems... oh well

Any advantage in locking tuners for a tele?

Hi there, I'm about to start my third Warmoth, this time a Thinline. Any thoughts as to the advantages of using locking tuners over normal ones. Standard tele bridge, no trem. I keep on bending the top two strings out of tune on my current tele. I'm happy to pay the extra if I'll gain more...

    Matching a Fender neck tint?

i might be too late to help, but try Steve at Manchester Guitar Tech - he does all colours of nitro (I've used his tinted lacquer on a neck ) and is a great guy to deal with.

    Masking Thinline f-holes

Thanks for your suggestions! Rags sound fine, but I have to say I'm tempted to have a go at the balloon method...

    Masking Thinline f-holes

Hi there, I'm about to start painting a Thinline body in nitro - I've done some solid bodies before and had great results. Does anyone have any advice to give or experience in masking the body chamber so I don't get overspray through the f-hole? Many thanks!

    Lightest Thinline body?

Thanks for your comments - just bought it and a q-sawn maple neck (total vintage) - can't wait to get going on it!

    Lightest Thinline body?

Thanks for that - good point about the ½ a pound!

    Lightest Thinline body?

Hi there. I'm just considering my next build - already built a Tele and a Strat, now I'm looking to build a Thinline. I'm looking for a really light (stupidly light) body - what is the lightest Thinline body anyone's come across? There's one in the Showcase at the moment at 2 lbs 10 oz in alder...

    Neck plate on LPs??

Yes, I know that feeling. Good thing is I'm in no hurry with my potential LP build as I've only just wired up my new strat...
