    Don't do Mushrooms!

When I was in college, like twenty years ago, I did a lot of mushrooms, and the worst thing I ever did while on them was lie on the floor and listen to Skinny Puppy really loud.

I apologize if this is a repost, but this made me laugh out loud. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pdFJTbaFcZ0

    Headstock Logos on New Builds

Someday I'll have a Warmoth carved top LPS style guitar in Lake Placid blue with a pearloid star set into the headstock where the logo goes.  I'm sure they'd do that for me if I paid a little extra.

    Cool or just ...meh?

Jazzmaster style body with an upside down Firebird style neck. Maybe with a couple of P-90's and a tune-o-matic. Just wondering what other people think of this combination.

    A hole in my neck

"You are more than welcome to dowel the hole if it bungs you that much." Fixed that for you. :icon_jokercolor: Peace.

Obscure music you want everyone to hear.

Don Caballero, Clockhammer, Slint, Dirty Three, Barkmarket, Bettie Serveert, Arcwelder, Failure, Quicksand. Kind of stuck in the early 90's, but so there was so much good music going on then.  I loved Nirvana, but they destroyed the indie rock scene forever. Some guys I knew were in a band...

Got a Les Paul, what would *you* do?

It's kind of funny the way tastes change from year to year and person to person.  Back in the early 80's when I was in high school, everybody was taking the old school strat pickups and PAF style pickups out of their guitars and replacing them with something "modern" and super high output for...

    non-Warmoth project

I just finished a non-Warmoth project, and I posted a bunch of pictures and stuff on a blog, so for those who are interested... http://storyofablazer.blogspot.com/ I've been reading this message board for a while and posting occasionally, and a lot of what went into this project came out of...

    Showcase pics vs. naked eye

As someone with about 15 years as a production artist, I can tell you that you'll never get perfect color reproduction.  The best you can do is get in the ballpark.  And if you're talking internet, you're lucky to even get in the parking lot. I can't tell you how many times I've had to stop...

W fretboard is sitting on the pickguard of USA strat... common problem? halp.

I had this same problem with a non-Fender, non-Warmoth guitar, and I sanded the underside of the fretboard extension so that I could just slide the pickguard under it with the neck on the guitar and tightened down. I wrote up a long explanation of what I did, but the forum logged me out...

    Photoshop practice

From what I understand, the headstock logo on older Ibanez guitars was silk screened on.  Maybe they still do it.  So it seems quite plausible that one could do the body the same way. I like the blue guitar.  I think it would look nice with a black pickguard, and rotated 90 degrees clockwise.

    WARMOTH BAD?

I've poked around on a lot of other guitar forums looking for information on various obscure guitar related questions, and the people here are at least twice as smart and three times as helpful as the people posting on every other one I've seen.  I take everything I read anywhere else with...

These are single-handedly saving my hearing

Back in my band days I also used to work at a military surplus store.  (They mostly sold camping equipment and shoes, but military surplus sounds cooler.)  I bought the whole band what they called "shooter's earplugs", which were very similar to the ones pictured.  That and slapping my guitar...

    tremolo block with broken screw

I'm working on a 1982 Ibanez Blazer that came with a strat style tremolo bridge.  I was originally going to replace it with a new one from Wilkinson (a Wilkinson WVC SB made by Sung-Il in Korea), but the new one doesn't fit.  I think that the guitar's original tremolo plate is a little longer...

The Repair Zone, San Diego, CA

The folks on the Rickenbacker forums also recommend this shop.  I'm planning on heading in there soon to ask them some questions about parts for an old Ibanez Blazer/Roadstar that I'm working on.
