Beautiful neck! Merry Christmas to you! :occasion14:

Merry EARLY Christmas to me! CUSTOM PRS SE Custom semi-hollow!

What a nice guitar. And a cool idea with the tailpiece. I have two of these that will get this treatment now thanks to you (SE Singlecut, SE Soapbar II). Yes, these are GREAT guitars for the money, and not just for the money, they also stand on their own merits of tone, feel, playablilty, etc...

    Neck pocket too tight?

Tighter is better than looser. Give it a few days. If she doesn't relax, and let the neck slip in, I think I would take it to a local machine shop. Unless you work at one, like I do. :D Not more than a 15 minute job to carefully clamp/mill that pocket out a CH. May cost you a six pack. If...

Spikey's Warmoth/USA Jackson Mutt gets some new pickups

LOL Well, ok, I will hit the 45 mark in June, and was still riding the Singer-Sewing-Machines of death at 41... Maybe someday when I have better self control I'll chance another one. I'm up here in New Hampshire, about an hour north of Boston. Lotsa deer down in TX too though, right? :)

Spikey's Warmoth/USA Jackson Mutt gets some new pickups

Nope. Rode it for a couple of years, and sold it. Felt lucky that I didn't hurt myself on it to be honest. Too much power. Too easy to tickle it and be doing a buck fitty. Not much time to brake if a deer pops out of the woods up here, if you can dig it. Looking for a Yamaha Roadstar that I can...

Spikey's Warmoth/USA Jackson Mutt gets some new pickups

Cool! I work for an injection molding house as well. Nice R6! I just really dig Yamaha stuff. Quality. :D

Spikey's Warmoth/USA Jackson Mutt gets some new pickups

Good eye DR6 :D Yeah, machinist, mold-maker, mold-designer, jack of most of those trades since about 1990. The pickups sound great. Bridge PATB-1 is semi-hot, but not overheated like the X2N seemed to be. Nice and responsive, brown sound chunk. The neck is just a sweet toned, well-matched...

Spikey's Warmoth/USA Jackson Mutt gets some new pickups

Some of you may remember my introduction post, where I showed off my Warmoth with the Jackson neck I put together. It had a hotrails in the neck, and an X2N in the bridge, and for quite a while I was happy with the sound. Then, I began to think there might be something missing, tone-wise.  Was...

n00b intro with pics of first build

I agree, tfarny. I've got plenty of strats, so it's not like I was really in search of the elusive duck on this one, but I didn't want a one dimensional shred/hair guitar either. It's just nice to have three distinct tones (which it now has), with the combo position (both pickups on)...

Ended up swapping out that neck pickup for a Duncan PA-STK1N This is a great match with the X2N in this mahogany bodied mutt. Couldn't be happier! (Used the hotrails in the bridge position of my Charvel S/S/S mutt, and it reallly woke that unit up!) Win Win :guitarplayer2:

Nope, no quack, but a nice balance of both pickups. Sorry, still owe you that sound clip... yesterday was all about the football and nachos. :D
