I have roasted maple/rosewood neck that I just burnished and played raw for a while. The neck felt great and smooth but I found it was VERY susceptible to getting little dings or scratches. I ended up doing a tru-oil finish on it to give it some level of protection and was thrilled with how it...
Got this goodie today to stick on my MIM Strat.
1.650 width
Clapton back
6105 SS frets
Vintage tuner ream
Roasted flame maple neck/board
I plan on going through really fine sandpaper then doing a tru-oil finish (I know it doesn't need but I did this on my tele neck and loved it - see...
What about a glue-in neck offering? Something akin to the PKG offerings?
New finishes would be awesome too. I've been wanting to do some kind of double bound, flake finish 24 3/4 tele w/ a Bigsby for a while. I just would hate to order all the parts then see some awesome limited edition run...
Looking to do a couple of new builds this year. Leaning towards a P bass and an offset build (prob a Jag or Jag-stang).
Anyone have any fun theories or rumors on what new offerings or special finishes Warmoth will have to celebrate their 40th? I'd hate to buy parts of a new build only to see...
Took your advice and did some searching on Doghair and finally found what I was looking for - its called a ceruse finish. Now to search videos and buy some test wood.
Good advice for sure! I plan on finding some scrap wood first no matter what. I'm assuming that ash and swamp ash are relatively similar when it comes to finish.
The finish feel I'm going for is satin sheen but texture from the grain is totally ok. Kind of like the Schecter Apocalypse (rust gray) if you are familiar with it. It has a very nice matte finish but the grain texture is still there.
Color wise I want to do a blue and try to highlight the...
I want to do a faded denim looking stain for my next build. Goal is to have a very weathered looking satin finish.
I want to do a blue stain with white/silver contrast for the grain. I saw a video on the ole youtube that did something similar on a cabinet. In the video their steps were

I'm pretty sure it is some very light compression. Nothing was removed. I don't know this iron/paper towel trick but now I have something to look up on the ole you tube.
It is not effecting my playing (I'm poor enough at that anyways) but it does irritate me. If I can't fix it then it isn't the...
It is really hard to see in the image :( Help up in the light at an angle it looks a lot worse than this.
They are more super shallow dents than scratches. Just kind of scratch shaped. I'm pretty sure I caused it but dragging the neck against the plastic at the tip of my wall hanger when...
Couple pictures of the issue (hard to catch on camera). Also I think I discovered how the small scratches got there - when I removed the guitar from my wall hanger I noticed the neck tends to bump against the plastic part on the front of the hanger. I've probably been causing these over time :(...
I have an unfinished (burnished) roasted maple neck on my warmoth Tele. 95% of the neck length feels great. Feels like silk boxers lol. I noticed a couple spots up near the first couple frets where I could feel some rough spots. I thought it was an area where I didn't burnish it evenly. On...
