    Hot norwegian blondes...

Sooo...where's the "yellow" in Iridium Yellow? On my monitor, that Strat body is some kind of metallic olive green.

    What do you guys play?

On acoustic, I lean toward the Windham Hill sound - DeGrassi, Hedges, Ackerman. On electric, the more electronic the better, and my influences there are Fripp, Belew, Holdsworth, and (Jeff) Beck. And these days I'm listening to a lot of ambient (Steve Roach) and middle-eastern and south asian...

    Gruhn Guitars update!!!!

<rant>To brutalize the deceased equine a bit more, I think it's actually the Golden Age of cheap guitars. If you don't turn up your nose at asian guitars, there are some amazing instruments out there. The PRS SE line includes some laughably great instruments in the $500 range. Fender's USA made...

    anyone see this?

If I was gonna buy a piece of workout gear from Warmoth, I wouldn't be thinkin' Tele. I'd be clickin' the "Buy Now" link on this: http://www.warmoth.com/showcase/sc_guitar_bodies.cfm?type=guitar&start=21&itemNumber=LPCP156&menuItem=4&subMenuItem=0&subMenuItem2=0

Idly musing over an LP build

A few years ago I had a chunk of cash burning a hole in my pocket, and went to the local branch of a now-out-of-business musical instrument chain, looking for an LP. I wound up walking out of the store with all of my money, and embarrassed the sales guy there by telling him why - Not a single...

    Ipe?

There's a lot about it here:  http://www.ipe-wood.com/index.html Any wood that has a 25 year lifespan in the Texas sun must be pretty tough stuff. It apparently starts brown and turns silver as it weathers.

    My ultimate tele.

:toothy10:  :laughing11:  :laughing3: But seriously, if you're going to have that many pickups, they better have low field strength magnets. Otherwise all of that magnetic energy will kill your sustain.

Something Strange Headed to the Showcase

I agree with DiMitriR33 - It does look like a Zemaitis, just before it goes to the engraver. Or a Troussart Steeltop before it gets left outside for a couple of months to "relic up".

    G5 Korina Complete

Beautimous. :hello2: I bet that axe has midrange growl for days.

Gotoh TOM vs Tones Pro TOM

CB's right, as usual - The Tone Pros bridge I used on my first Warmoth build was a Gotoh bridge. Besides that one, I also put a Tone Pros wraparound on my PRS Singlecut. I found it does a lot for sustain, and both bridges increased top end on the guitars as well, which is something to consider...

    Crushed Metal Style Finishes!

Wow! That crushed copper is exactly what I'm planning for my bari 7 string. My wife has invented a version of that that she did for our coffee tables, and it looked so cool that we decided to do the top of the guitar that way.  :headbang: that you're offerring that as an option! But I gotta...

    Dual F-Holes!

I love your concepts, but if you're planning a rosewood neck, that headstock is gonna head for the floor the first time you strap it on.

    Microtonal Guitar

G2... I believe the freenote guitar was recently reviewed in Guitar Player - They liked it a lot. As for fretless guitars, I think Pat Metheny is the only "big time" artist who uses them - He has a fretless nylon string. My own explorations in this extend only to an hour spent with this wild...

    Your 'baby', your first guitar

My first was a Harmony Acoustic Archtop. The neck joint eventually went, and my Dad repaired it by drilling out a strap pin and putting a molly bolt through that and the heel to hold the mess together. When I went to college, my Mom sewed me a blue denim gig bag for it. Eventually, the neck went...
