Are you left handed or Right Handed ?

i'm righty, play righty. but i think playing lefty would be awkward. now i'm semi ambidexterous. there are many things i do where i switch from left to right because it doesn't feel like it makes any difference for a lot of things, but i don't have a lot of natural rhythm and i find it very...

need advice on fret leveling a compound neck

on that one i might start with the straight edge and just lightly touch it up with the sharpening stone after. i mean it might be ok for most people iif you just use the stone but the thread starts with you saying you expected the strings to go lower. then you identified that you have some...

Just curious but why is Warmoth quality deteriorating....

the thing with the necks. they are fender replacement parts. they used the most common fender neck pocket location and they have made a decision to stick to that so that customers don't end up with the wrong neck and body combo and then complain.. if you want all this stuff there is carvin and...

need advice on fret leveling a compound neck

ok, without giving too much input that may conflict with others advice i'll just explain the geometry here. a compund neck is basically a section taken from a cone. the ideal geometry has the point of the cone directly under the point where the "E" strings would converge if it they were...

What is the best pre-made single coil LH guitar i could buy for £400 or less?

well even at 20% VAT it's a little high for a tribute series. a USA G&L would be much more money. but the tributes are made in asia. though they might be the best asian made strats and teles i've played. these days a cheap asian guitar can play very well some can even be compared to american...

What is the best pre-made single coil LH guitar i could buy for £400 or less?

looks like guitars cost a bit more in england after the exchange rate, but for a tad more than 400 pounds i did find an ad for a left G&L tribute legacy. http://rguitars.co.uk/products/legacy-left-hand?s=recomatic#.U6IQYKfEEXc it's the single coil pickup guitar i'd buy if i were going to buy a...

What is the best pre-made single coil LH guitar i could buy for £400 or less?

not sure of the cost in europe but at the conversion rates i'm almost certain you could get a g&l tribute series legacy or asat. they are basically strats or teles made in asia for g&l, a company that was owned by leo fender and george fullerton after fender went to cbs. the tributes use g&l...

Joe Barden Two/Tone Humbucker Custom Wiring Help Needed

i've already said that the jbe diagram show the volume wires as you would like so that one volume doesn't shunt the output and thus the other pickup. instead the pickups get shunted by their own volume pot which can make them muddy at low volumes (thus the bleed cap in the diagram) this means...

Joe Barden Two/Tone Humbucker Custom Wiring Help Needed

this should work. i never used joe bardens and it looks like these are multiple winding pickups so things are slightly different from standard humbuckers but since the switching is the same as shown on the jbe official diagram it should work. only thing, you omited the 3way switch. is that...

Joe Barden Two/Tone Humbucker Custom Wiring Help Needed

^that'll work. there are atleast 2 ways to wire a volume pot. the one in that diagram prevents it from shunting the whole guitar. that extra cap is a treble bleed cap and helps keep things ballanced when you turn down the volume and shunt the pickup end.

    Tone miniswitch instead of pot?

    1. i get that you want a visual... the problem with that is it take significantly more time to make a pretty drawing, upload it somewhere, and link it than it takes to type words... 2. it's not all that difficult but i get that it can be hard to absorb. there is a bit of intimidation factor...

    Tone miniswitch instead of pot?

take fat pete's drawing, swap the two leads on the spdt switch then add another resistor onto the spdt switch going from the left most contact to the right most (or another capacitor, you could do different variations on this). it should be an on/off/on switch. the middle position will be no...

    Tone miniswitch instead of pot?

if i read your drawing right, you have the signal in series with the cap to the output since it appears to be a bypass of some kind, there is an easier way to do this though but i'm not sure it's actually what you want to begin with so i'll skip the tutorial. this is a good way to cut bass. what...

Wiring on an ash body HSS strat

bill lawrence said that aluminum is a good way to keep noise down on single coil pickup. but i'm not sure how much. many people use copper shielding on the pickguard. but like joey said it can be an exercize in futility. fender uses aluminum but not always around the pickups it may be for...

Warmoth Stratocaster 2014 Rosewood with True Temperament Frets??

i seem to remember reading that true temperment is a temperment (not equal temperement) similar to a popularly used temperment but can't remember the names right now. but a lot of piano tuners are using a version of equal temperment that could be adapted to the guitar. i would think the issue...
