    Amp plugins, IR's, Sims.

I use ProTools as well, and the Eleven plugin has some pretty good models. The other virtual amps I use regularly are IK Multimedia's Amplitube bundle, and Wave's GTR (only because it came in the Platinum bundle). Wave's GTR has some usable stuff, but Amplitube is much more versatile, despite...

Getting this high pitched buzz in my Frankenstein rig. Troubleshoot exercise.

Actually, that's not weird at all .... Every digital (or analog) device plays using its own internal clock.  When you listen to a song on your iPod versus on your computer, they are playing at slightly different speeds ... even though your ear would never notice it.  It becomes obvious when you...

    show us your pedalboard

The pedalboard for my bass rig has gone through several incarnations, but I think I finally have it right.  I play bass in a cover band, so I like to have a variety of tones, and  I don't like tweaking between songs. In signal flow order: PRA WiC wireless TC Electronics Polytune MXR bass...

    Who bi-amps their bass rig?

Interesting thread ... I like to keep my stage rig as simple as possible.  I have a GK MB500 Fusion running into a Yorkville 2x10 cab.  My pedalboard is what I use for tone manipulation. I always put everyone (including myself) into the PA, even for smaller gigs.  The amps onstage are really...

    Instrument Cables

Actually the kit I used looks a little different from the web link I posted.  The connectors are really solid, held in place with a set-screw. I've done close to 100 gigs in the last 4 years with 10 pedals wired together with this kit ... bars, outdoor parties, corporate shows, and never so much...

    Instrument Cables

Well, I gig fairly regularly.  I'm not abusive of my equipment, but not ginger with it either.  The cables I made with the Planet Waves kit are going on 4 years without failure, so I can honestly say "I've not had that problem". I've resoldered plenty of broken guitar and mic cables in my...

    Instrument Cables

For what it's worth, I use this to wire up my pedalboard: http://www.planetwaves.com/pwProductDetail.Page?ActiveID=4115&productid=22&productname=DIY_Solderless_Pedalboard_Cable_Kit Custom lengths, great quality connectors, and no soldering!

Question for the bass players: Which D'addario set is most like Swing Bass 66?

I've used D'addario strings for years ... and I've actually switched to Rotosounds! The D'addario Flexsteels are probably the closest to Rotosounds.  I usually had to buy those online, though, as my local Long & McQuades only stocked the XL nickel wound for 5 string.

    BRY jazz bass

That is a fantastic looking instrument.  Nice work! If you are conisdering changing pickups you've gotta check out Nordstrand.  I have a pair of nj5s jazz pickups in my Deluxe 5, and they sound amazing.

    Prefered wireless system

So I received the PRA WiC wireless system yesterday ... unfortunately too late for my Saturday gig. But having played with it I've gotta say I've never used anything more "plug and play" in my life.  No knobs, no menus, just turn the power on the receiver and transmitter and they pair...

    Prefered wireless system

That one was actually a serious contender on my list .... but I already have a tuner, and wasn't entirely sure I could power the receiver with my Voodoo Labs ISO5.  That, and it is one of the more expensive offerings in the wireless world. However, I decided to order the PRA WiC that Timmsie95...

    Prefered wireless system

..... said no one who owns a cel phone    :) Cables are the main reason I want to go wireless.  For one, when we do soundcheck, I can now wander around the venue with my iPad, but only as far as my bass cable will allow me.  That, and considering the cable is plugged into my pedalboard, which...

    Prefered wireless system

Yeah, I know that wireless units are pretty ravenous with batteries.  We use digital hybrid wireless lav mics where I work, and you're lucky to get 5 hours out of a 9 volt. My band doesn't play that often, and if I'm diligent in turning off the transmitter between sets, I could probably get a...

    Prefered wireless system

Thanks for that info .... I've been leaning towards the G30 not only for price, but the fact that the receiver can be powered by my Voodoo Labs PS. My biggest concern was the battery door.  But, I do treat my equipment pretty gingerly, so I guess I'll be OK. Any other input still welcome!

    Prefered wireless system

I know that this has been discussed on and off over various threads, but I'm looking to get a wireless rig for my bass, and I'm wondering what everyone else is using. Looking at reviews of the Line 6 G30, the common complaint it the battery door ... true or over-exaggerated? Thinking also...
