Very light in weight- probably about 5.5 lbs- future home to chrome covered JB/Jazz set inside of chrome rings.  TonePros locking TOM is a really nice piece of hardware.  I'm really pleased with the quality of the finish and how tight the neck pocket is.  They removed all compound from the cavities and all routes are uber clean.  The separate lead channel for the neck pickup is a very convenient feature, as well.

I'm sure it looks great... But my imagination isn't so good. Woodporn just aint the same without the pics.

Hey, this is the Unofficial Warmoth forum and there is one rule when speaking of new gear......"Pics or it doesn't exist!"

Nice grain!!
In general, I am not a big fan of Zebra wood, but the ones I like, I really like!

WOW. i mean, just. holy crap. that is an awesome guitar. i like your pickup selection too :icon_thumright: i used a JB/Jazz combo on my tele deluxe and love it. the neck can be a little muddy, but i still think thats my amp. the jazz is acoustic-like when it's clean, and the JB is maybe my new favorite pickup (taking over the super distortion's spot).

whats the neck going to be? i think canary would blend with that body's coloring really well

Thanks, J!

Right now it's got my ol' qtr sawn maple/ebony neck on it, but I want to go with a roundback profile.  The maple does look sweet as a contrast!  Are you suggesting canary as the core or fretboard?  It is a gorgeous wood, for sure.  I'm thinking a brighter neck wood would compliment the mahogany body.

I have the Jazz in my SG-GT's neck- the 496 tht was there before was way too bass heavy and the jazz did the trick in removing boominess and mud. I love it.  I currently have a Rio Grand BBQ in the bridge and love it, but after hearing all of these JB vids on YouTube, I feel like it's the right pickup for me since I play lead and ost of the players that inspired me used these back int he day haha. In a way I wish I would have ordered the wood mount option for aesthetics, but to be honest i think it will look great with rings.

Best Regards,

Nice, when you post pics you really post pics. That is one nice looking piece of lumber there.

I humbly beg forgiveness, and am in awe at the beauty of your axe. Great choices.
I disagree with the canary neck (IMHO) I think it would make too many stripes. I'd go for something simple, like what you have on there already - leave the glory to the top.

I've always wanted an all zebra axe... An SG or something.

Any pics of it all set up?

Wow! That is one beautiful body!

I think it's just screaming for gold hardware, though, rather than chrome. Tough call on neck woods, though. I have a wild maple top strat body with a similar finish, and I can't make up my mind what to do about the neck. Ebony on maple with clear vintage tint would look and feel great without clashing, but that's a pretty common neck to put on an uncommon body. I was thinking maybe Koa with gold frets, which are nearly as good as stainless but would look nicer.

Is that slight brown burst edge on there?  Or am I hallucinating?  In any case, that's a sexy slab o' lumber.

+1 on gold hardware, but if you already have the pickups, well, too late for that argument.  Congrats on a beautiful guitar.

Ah, no pics of the set up axe yet!  I do think gold would look better aesthetically, but when it starts wearing, I don't like it so much.  I think chrome will be nice!

Yes, the body has a tobacco burst over the front and back with a white pinstripe.  Next time, I'd do just an amber clear over the back and a black pinstripe binding.  The tobacco burt over the back sort of muddies the mahog/zebra joint- but I ain't complaining!  I'm very happy with it.

Funny thing is I too thought Zebra was tacky, but I thought the tobacco burst would subdue it in just the right way and it really has.  In person it is much less yellowish and a very deep and warm amber.  I will get a better cam on it when it's done!  Thanks for the encouraging words.

Best!

Great looking body!
I would stay away from gold hardwares and pickup rings....

Keep it simple!

Aw, thanks.  Here's the latest speedbump:

The neck..I love the shoulders of the Fatback, but it looks too huge- the depth of the Roundback looks perfect.  I'm thinking of buying an unfinished Maple/Ebony Fatback and hand-shaping the back a bit.  Sometimes all these options can stress a guy out.
