Ya know, this whole thread reminds me of something that happened to me recently.

I have a buddy who is really into stereos.  He's always building speakers, tweaking things with mini-dsps, tweaking his phono thingy, doing 'sweeps' of his system and tuning the EQ and other stuff.  He has a killer home made car stereo as well.  His wife is constantly bugging him about this "another set of speakers???  WTF ??" etc etc...

So his birthday is coming up and his wife emails me and says "I have this idea for his birthday - I'll get him an espresso machine!!".  My reply:  "you know, why don't you just get him a card saying 'you can build another set of speakers if you want' and include a $100 gift cert for parts express?  that would make him really happy." 

Her reply was "wow... I guess you're right.  That would really make him happy".

Sometimes a little honesty is a good thing.  Now let's see if she goes through with it

Well the new to me body is purchased. My strat look now goes back 2+ decades. Back to black on black
I was glad she agreed to want a change. I am also glad she likes the tones of the custom acoustic I want. She is already helping to save for a McKnight acoustic.

Having Cagey do some work on the neck during the rebuild with inserts, and while there, fret work and burnishing.

It will be great playing and sounding when all back together, but just looking like another DG clone. But I loved my DG clone back in the early 80s, and I'd like one again.

Not to mention I don;t have to worry about clashing clothes or songs anymore LOL.

When done, I'll enter it and be prepared for last place for GOTM. But that is OK. I feel I am coming full circle and I am happy with that.
