Yea, I built that (most of it)...

The only problem with the blanks is it's tough to cut a slot for a blade switch. But, since most Teles only have two pickups, you can easily use a standard 3 position toggle to achieve the same results. Those holes can be drilled easily, and the switches are arguably more robust.
 
Actually, if you want to look at the list of things "Leo didn't get right the first time", that blade switch mounted directly parallel to the plate is high on the list. You can fit four pots on that plate if you use a Les Paulish three way switch. That Rutters fellow makes a Tele plate with the switch angled - and then cuts only two holes in it. But at least it costs a lot, so you know it's got to be better.
