World's Most Expensive Top Ferrules

I bought an Anniversary Sale body with a TOM/Arch configuration and forgot to order the $3.75 top ferrules.

There's a $25 minimum for orders. So what did I do?

I bought another body.

Alpine White strat, contoured heel, I went for the swimming pool route.

Wilkinson trem, Blackmore-esque w/b/w pickguard (S-X-S), Tone 1 & Tone 2 holes, 3-way switch. Volume and an EMG Afterrburner, for 20db more of totally unnecessary VOLUME. Mr. Blackmore would insist on it, I imagine.

I'll eventually order a CBS 1 3/4 Fatback Maple/Ebony full scallop w/black face dots (It's like no face dots, only with them). Still ruminating on ebony vs. Rosewood, strictly an aesthetic choice.

This is just the parts I have now, mocked up. The pickups are emg-style covers to fill in. I will probably get some SD Quarter Pounders, though I may go with the Duncan Designed Scorchers I already have; 22k resistance and named after my favorite band in the world.

Fatback! Full scallop! Yay! My boatneck full-scallop ahem "Tele" (Lawrence L500XL + scallops, sure it's a "tele") is still the go-to one when push comes to shove as the pedal's to the metal & the rubber meets the road. Can't beat a dead horse to water, but another one opens.... :toothy12:

Christ!

Wow that looks great!  Would you please post a picture of the neck?  I just ordered an alpine white body and I got half of my neck scalloped.  I'm just playing the waiting game now...

Well, you did what you had to; since you can't get those ferrules just anyplace- http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Hardware,_parts/Electric_guitar:_Ferrules.html
You are definitely our hero  :occasion14:

Who knows? Maybe that CBS neck in Gregg's 'Walk Through Warmooth' thread really was mine. Even if it isn't, it doesn't matter, because I got the email...

QUANTUM VIEW!!!

What the neck is with that toilet paper lookin stuff on the fret markers?  Like they cut themselves shavin or somethin?  Wazzdat for?

Isn't that bits of the green sticky tape they stick on everything in an order and write the order details on, so it will all go to the correct customer?

Yeah, just tape with someone's notes on it.

AAAAAGGGHHHH!!!!

My neck arrived in Hong Kong at 14:41 yesterday. I still don't have it, 24 hours later.

IT'S NOT THAT BIG A CITY!!! WHERE'S MY NECK!?!?!

Chek Lap Kok --------> Cheung Sha Wan -----------> whitebison66 residence = 36 hours  :laughing7:

Actually it went to Kowloon Bay. There's not much of anything in Cheung Sha Wan. Well, nothing to do with UPS or guitars.

But as it turns out, 'whine and ye shall receive'!

Delivered to Tai Wai at 5:06.

I mocked it up quickly for the photos: the SD Quarter Pounds, Schaller locking tuners, Wilkinson trem, and the neck. That's not a tone control; it's an EMG Afterburner. Because Ritchie would want +20dB. I know I do!

I've never made a Unique Choice, and never specified anything about fretboards. Warmoth always impresses me, and this time is no different. The black face dots  really set off the rosewood and have just enough contrast that I can see them, but from any distance they'll blend in.

I'm going with this custom decal; the paper logos are obviously too big, so I printed a test sheet with a smaller Warmoth and a lot of different 'scallopcaster's to try out. The 'Original Custom Booty Fattened' looks good to go, since I can't print it any smaller legibly.

How are those custom decals working out for you? I bought some water-release decal paper for the laser printer to do the same thing, but haven't tried it out yet.

A laser printer is a must, but the most important thing is to seal the decal with some spray lacquer. Use a couple mist coats. It protects the ink from the application process, but more importantly it strengthens the decal so that moving it around for final placement becomes a lot easier and the decal won't split.

Others probably have a lot more experience and can offer more/better advice, but that's what I know about them.
