Wood finish body!

I am intending to have a wooden finish on my body and neck, with the body being made of bass wood and neck being of maple, after sanding the body down with various grit sand paper, should any grain sealent/sanding sealer be applied before or after applying the wood stainer? Any help is greatly appreciated, Thanks.

should not need anything other than the stain itself. If it's minwax stain they have a pre-stain wood treatment that goes on before the stain...I bought some but did not use it.
