Pinholes in 2K clearcoat

Did the grain filler need more than one coat? I may be wrong thinking of the Solarez as a filler and seal coat that would lock the color down after level sanding for the clear coat???
Yes, I did 2 coats for the mahogany. Have to be careful when sanding to not get into the color. You scrape it with a credit card or similar before UV curing, so it doesn’t take much sanding. Of course it’s cloudy today so I stole my wife’s UV light and testing on some scrap. It’s nice having a Wife with lots if hobbies too, we can share tools. 😀

Seems to work great, so about to do the real deal…..

Did you get the body finished?
Yep, check it out here......

WOW! Nice job. I bought solarez and zpoxy to test for a couple of bodies I am refinishing. planned on the spraymax topcoat. We have not seen the sun since the solarez arrived so I applied the zpoxy on an ash body that I dyed. Started out vintage amber, but the zpoxy gave it a brownish tint. It looks like the oem color now but I was surprised with the color shift. Sanding will lighten the color, but sanding through the color is easy. Did the solarez shift your dye color?

Thanks. It may have barely darkened it up a bit, but not much. Since it was only on the sides and back it wasn't too big a deal. Just make sure the dye is totally dry and be careful sanding afterwards. Stop if you start seeing any color on the sandpaper......

I have a test board to put the solarez on. I want to grain fill a mahogany body next. It was supposed to be an experiment, but after stripping, ding repairs and a three color dye burst It looks to good to screw up now. Thanks. What pickups did you use?

I had some rainy days while using it and used a little portable UV light that my wife had for her crafts. Just had to move it around a few times, but worked great.

The Purple Haze is MojoTone Quiet Coil P90's, Love them. Used their 59 PAF Humbucker with a coil split, and quiet coil Single Coils in the HSS I just finished and they are awesome too. Never disappointed in MojoTone......

Have fun experimenting.
