Which neck wood/fretboard to i pair with Fender noiseless pickups ?

I play mainly jazz.

The guitar is a Solid body Tele style

All suggestions are welcomed.

Without knowing your signal chain, I'd go with a Wenge neck, ebony fretboard, no inlay, just white  side dots, Wolfgang profile, 1 3/4 wide nut, stainles frets, tusq nut.  Hipshot locker  tuners with a ump .  The only reason I picked this is I can't imagine anyone not liking it.

Pics of what you got would be helpful.

On other guitars, what fretboards neck wood do you like?

I have a bunch of guitars. I have Bocote on a strat. Roasted maple on a tele, Mahogany/rosewood on a tele, maple/gocalo alves on a tele, maple on a tele and two Indian Rosewoods on Teles.

This particular guitar has had a maple neck on it. It was meh.

It had a mahogany/Rosewood neck on it. Too dark and mellow with that particular neck/body combination.

I like your suggestion. What about Wenge/Rosewood ?

Try something different than what you got.  A neck wood you've never tried before and a board you've never used. Recently I've been jonsing for an all bloodneck with dots to match the paint job.  Since you have rosewood stay away from it and try something new.

Though there's nothing wrong with rosewood.

Or, at risk of being boring (like I tend to do), just get another one of what you like and know works. You can always change the tone you hear with a different set of strings or even a pick.

Just so Rick does not have to imagine. I like Ebony boards, but can't imagine using Wenge on a guitar as I prefer something closer grained.

My favorite neck is a Padouk explorer neck with an ebony board. Had taht guitar for over 20 years great ax. Padouk breaks in and darkens over time which is cool too.

Now THAT is a good question. Fender noiseless pickups with what potentiometer values?

My advice to you is to stick with a big fat profile like the ‘59 roundback or boatneck, SRV is pretty chunky too. More wood is my point here.

Nickel frets will sound a little mellower as in how the highest trebles snap back at you.

Also, the vintage or vintage/modern truss seems a little mellower to me than the modern 2-way ones.

My top vote for the back wood is goncalo alves. Goncalo is pure joy in the palm.

In fact, use it for the fretboard too.

V/M goncalo on goncalo boatneck with nickel frets.

Yup.

Stainless frets won't sound any different from nickle frets on solid-body electric guitars.

Additionally, the neck profile is a personal thing. Its no good having a neck profile that doesn't feel comfortable.

I love my boatneck but I will probably not order another one. I was going for mass there, mine has awesome tone. I always thought it was a size thing. I still play it, but dang... its an inch thick the whole way.
