Greetings from Mother Russia! Sitting here in St. Petersburg, Russia. I have my eye out for some guitar shops, maybe I can pop in and so some shredding in your guys' honor. Until then, I will have another drink or 15.  :occasion14: :guitarplayer2:

Never thought of St. Petersburg as a guitar shop sort of town, but who knows? What we're told of Russia is highly biased, and they're not exactly forthcoming themselves.

He might find one of these lying around... :laughing11:

It's been a blur so far.  :laughing8: All I can say is beer, vodka, women, and women.  :binkybaby:

Careful! They may just want to marry you as a ticket out of the country. Instant US citizenship, and all the delicious benefits that come with that. What we call poverty here is pretty high living in most parts of the world, and our gummint will set you up at poverty level just by virtue of maintaining a 98.6 degree body temperature and drawing breath. Anything past that is gravy, and you use it to buy big screen TVs, iPhones, Nikes, and a hoopty of some sort.

Actually, marrying a US Citizen gets you a temporary green card.  After a few years you can apply for citizenship, but the entire process usually takes 5 or 6 years.  During  that time the married couple has to show proof of marriage such as shared living quarters, photos of them together celebrating holidays, and other things normal married couples do.

I had a friend I worked with who married a foreign national and it was a long process to get him citizenship.

But I do understand your point about women from certain countries seeking husbands in the USA for immigration reasons.  Its a crazy world we live in.

Ok, I thought it was more automatic than that. Probably because I got all my information on the subject from sitcoms where that's sort of a common storyline.

Of course, if you're aware of how attractive your US citizenship makes you, there's absolutely no harm in letting them think they're getting somewhere. And then sodding off home without even a goodbye ;)

:laughing7: Don't worry guys, I have no intention of marrying a Russian girl...or any other girl for that matter.

So far so good, having a great time. I have actually seen a couple of guys with guitars, and two guys were playing and singing out in the middle of town, they were singing in English. Maybe I'll find a balalaika later.  :party07:

Good for you. Unless you're interested in having kids, there's little point to it. Regardless, it's a good way to lose everything you ever worked for or cared about.

You (or she) were doing it wrong ;)
:dontknow:  In my case, she did it wrong ...................................... with her Boss  :laughing7:  ..... (see, I can laugh about it now)

I'm at the age now, that who I go out with, their kids are grown ups (like my 2 are) much easier.
Plus their past the age for having anymore kids  :icon_thumright:  .... not that they don't wanna keep trying  :toothy12:

Lisa and I just celebrated 20 years married.  Seems to be working out for us :occasion14:

Possibly. But, I think the whole "'til death do you part" or "as long as you both shall live" business was a much easier promise to make when the whole institution was originally codified, since people rarely lived much past 30. You were only making a 10 or 15 year commitment at the outside.

Heh. My parents have been married 5 times between them, and it was pretty rough on me, so I resolved to only do it once I really knew what it was all about. Lived with a few girls, that didn't work out, eventually did find one where it clearly was going to work out. In hindsight it was obvious from the start.

Didn't get married till I was 30 though.

Congratulations Mayfly!  :occasion14: If she's put up with you for 20 then you better keep her, eh! :icon_thumright:
Yoko has put up with my BS for 25 years as of this summer and it just seems to get better and better!  I told her she has to keep me around now... it would be a shame to waste all the training she's put me through!  :toothy12:

Cheers to you happily married folks, very happy to hear you have found someone worth keeping.  :occasion14: I can't say I will never get married, but it's definitely not high on my to-do list, considering my current lifestyle... :laughing7:
