What's on your iPod?

I used to just do a line in to my computer from my record player and record it with Audiograbber to get my LPs in digital format.

Yeah, I have over three thousand records.  I told my kids to get me a USB turntable for next fathers day.  I'm going to need a better computer!

I really need to buy more records. I've only got about 200 something.

Donations welcome.

bah!
How come you guys can afford both warmothguitars and a whole shitload of records, while I barely can afford a half warmothguitar and a tiny piece of bread?

Because you are a teenager.  I couldn't afford anything up until a year ago when I graduated college and finally got a real job.

Though, if you can afford $10 a month you could get an online music service like Rhapsody or Music Match.  That's kind of  like having a huge music collection.

I stole my parents records (found them in a box and moved them into my room) and scout secondhand stores for them.
I also spent a year saving up for my guitar :p 2 acoustics came before it, one free and one $30.

Yeah, saving up and getting hand-me-down and bartered stuff is always good.  My vinyls all used to be my uncle's and my mom's, and I saved up for 2 years to get my Warmoth.

The only reason I could afford my Warmoth (and large music collection) is that unlike 99% of the student population I don't get pissed every night. Instead I spend the money on music and instruments, so rather than having a headache I have something I'd actually want. ;)

I have been buying records since I was 12 years old, and I'm 36 now.  I still have the first one I bought, the first Van Halen record, to anyone interested.  I also become the benefactor of people's whole collections sometimes when I tell them that I kind of collect records, and they say, "Really, I have a whole bunch of those damn things I don't want anymore, you want them?"  I then go through and pick out the ones I want, and take the rest to the three used bookstores in town that buy records, and trade them in for credit to...yup, buy more records!

You know I collect records?

Recently been listening to Iron & Wine and Mississippi John Hurt, among my pretty typical collection of 80's alternative / 90's grunge / classic rock / blues. Yep, getting old and mellow.

I've been listening to Masterplan lately... All the time the last week, actually :icon_jokercolor:
Dude! Those guys are awesome! :headbang: :eek:ccasion14:

Seriously. Don't forget that 'mellow' is completely different from 'easy listening'. The music might be quiet, but those guys also have some serious depth in there. Most of my favorites are mostly acoustic. Doesn't make you an old man!!

Yeah, it's true.  My fiance drives me crazy sometimes because when I listen to softer music he thinks it is "elevator music", which it is not.  Death Cab For Cutie is not elevator music, though they have a lot of slower songs.  After we move in together I will begin his intensive musical education and then he won't make mistakes like that anymore.

Steely Dan, now that is elevator music... or "Yacht Rock" as I like to say.
