What makes one trem batter than another?

So, I have already ordered a wilkenson 6-hole steel block trem from WDMusic.com, but I was wondering: what makes one trem better than any other?

Is it all about tuning stability or does it ACTUALLY make a difference in tone? Is there something else I am missing other than the obvious aesthetic benefits and unique features like a flloyd's ability to bend both up and down? 

I ask because they range in price from 30 to 300 dollars and I don't know what makes the $300 one worth the cost of a new neck...

Well, i've seen people post, schaller FR's sound warmer than OFRs.

Apparently, ORF's are made from hardened steel, not much unlike the material used for hammers, so the sound is brighter. But Schaller FR's are made from die cast iron (or something like that) which soaks up the sound making it warmer sounding.

FR's are bigger than most, so, now i'm making an assumption(this may be false), they'd sound warmer than most other trems (vibrato's), but FR's are the best (that are sold at Warmoth) for dive bombs and keep your guitar in tune for months if you set it up right.

It all differs on size and weight and what the trem is made from, so whatever trem you're using, it should sound different a little bit.

I have played guitars with different trems before, but i have no idea what most of them sound like. I'd really like to try a bigsby Vibrato on a L5S.

Any vibrato unit can (technically) "float"-raise and lower pitch-if it's set up to do so.
Apart from truly inferior materials-i.e., Chinese junk, what makes a unit better or worse is your ears, hands and overall needs.
