What kind of tone capacitor is best for a neck pickup treble boost?

Just wondering what kind of tone capacitor would be the best for as a "treble booster" for a Duncan Cool Rails neck pickup in a Mahogany guitar.

You can't boost treble, without an active circuit  :icon_scratch:

I think you might be thinking of a treble bleed cap for the volume pot (about .001uF)
This makes the tone brighter as you turn the volume down.

If you ARE talking about the tone pot, then you want a low value cap (.01uF or .022uF) and a 500K or 1 meg pot.
This will preserve more treble.
Also, try a 500K or 1meg volume pot as well.

Ok. Just wondering.

example 1

10k pickup with a 500k volume and a 250k tone with a standard .044 cap....this is standard to any dave mustant jacksons or even a gibson les paul

the idea is to increase the treble..it is done by opening the bandwith you would you in both increasing values or the electronics will not sound balanced and smooth between fast shifting note..

10k pickup with a 1 MEG VOLUME and a 500k TONE with a .022 cap

why you ask....?

if u have a 10k p/u and it goes through a 500k volume to start with you would get essensialy half the available power the pickup gots
if you have a 10k p/u with a 1meg volume you are getting almost all the available volume/pwer/gain that the pickup has to offer, literaly if you had to compare next to each other, one will be louder, push the amp harder, cleaner notes, more defined...open bandwith, when stock they always sound soo shity, almost all guitar manufactuers put in 500k and 250k stock on guitars...also the .022 tone cap upgrade will roll off less of the tonal "voltage" lets call it, a .044 rolls off more tone, but also rolls off the responce of the signal as this slags the sound a bit

if u used a 2 meg volume and a 1 meg tone, well then, no other guitar would sound as clean as that.....

anyways if you want more trebble make sure you do this properly, it does not sound good,(ive tried) using like 500k tone and volume poits, or 1meg both tone and volume.....im not a engineer, but this is what most people do, is stagger the pots......and this works very very well
