I for one beg to differ...
That's an overall difference of .08 (in the world of CNC / machining, that's A LOT) over the stock depth of .640, and it allows one to get the string action closer to the body for those of us that prefer a fast more "shreddy" feel.

It's obvious that the action will lower if you seat the neck deeper in the pocket.
