What is the best way to care for Goncalo Alves neck

I'm done with my build and I had to make a Goncalo Alves pickguard to match the Warmoth Neck which is all Goncalo Alves.  I used true oil on the pickguard and it became a very close match to the neck.  I don't know what Warmoth uses to finish the neck but they say that the neck doesn't need anything.  In the future, should I add tru-oil or what?  Just the fretboard, or the entire thing?

As you say it does not need anything.

If you choose to use a light coat of tru-oil it is a personal choice. You could do the whole neck, part of it or none of it.

Or you could just play it with clean hands, and occasionally if it needs it wipe it down with a light amount of naptha if it needs cleaning.

Or you could burnish it. Cagey has a thread about it...

I HIGHLY recommend burnishing it, that's what I did to my goncalo neck and it's absolutely incredible.

The burnishing thread is here, if you're interested. It's time-consuming to do, but ultimately well worth it and you only have to do it once.

I have a goncalo neck and it is a joy.  I do nothing other than play it.
