What do you think about....

Generally a 1960s strat is known for the rosewood fretboard, this is when Fender switched form maple to rosewood. Pre-CBS.

Huuuu, so many comments...  :hello2:

Well, I do not want to build an exactly replica of a 60s Strat. I love the tone of these Strats and the look is also cool, but I would def. not choose a total vintage neck just to be as close as I can. My aim is more  a hot rodded `60 vibe Strat. But I am not shure if the pau ferro neck is a little bit to much, I think I will sell my birds eye maple Tele neck and will go for pau ferro on my Tele style guitar.

What do you think about maple/malagasy rosewood for the Strat? I have i mind that malagay rosewood and ziricote are very close o brazilian rosewood? So maybe indian rosewood sounds a bit warmer?!
Olympic white with mint pickguard looks cool, but only with slighly aged pup covers and knobs.

@ Super Turbo Deluxe Custom: Nice pic, but I am not shure is the pickguard mint or more relic white?

Thanks for your help

hasta proxima

When they went Rosewood, the neck and fretboard now became two piece.  The earlier maple ones were one piece.  It wasn't just the addition of a new fretboard wood, but the introduction of a new neck construction.

I think the PG is mint in the pick.  Some mints are mintier than others.  The Warmoth mint (I have one) looks white and only looks mint when contrasted with white for comparison.  I was going to post a link to a White Strat with a Wenge/Ebony fretboard but the photobucket images are no longer linked.  Anywho, I wouldn't have thought that combo would have looked good, but it was awesome.

You should also note that the skunk stripe stayed until after CBS. There were some maple 'cap' necks made special here and there but I think those still had skunk stripes. I can't find where I read this, so I veto my own comment. LOL. There were actually 2 kinds of rosewood 'caps' too. One had a flat bottom and one had a radiused bottom like the fretboard. I think the truss rods weren't put in the top till the '70s..
