...my plans of a `60 style Strat?  :guitaristgif:

Body: alder (about 4 lbs) NOT chambered (recommendation for a solid colour that fits to the neck? I think maybe olympic white or sonic blue/shell pink....)
Neck: all pau ferro     or    maple with ziricote fretboard (I think brazilian rosewood will not be shippted to Germany?!) :icon_scratch: 6230 stailness frets,  standard contour, modern vintage
Pickguard colour: ??  :dontknow:
Hardware: Callaham hardtail bridge, vintage locking tuners
Pickups: S-S-S do not exactly know, something which goes in the direction of Hendrix or SRV

Any comments, recommendations?

If you want that 60's strat tone I would say maple/Indian Rosewood neck. For the look, the zircote is cool. Mint pickguard. Olympic white. Wait I did this already... I will have to post pics in the strat forum...

Do you belive there is a big tonal difference between the indian rosewood and the ziricote (which is seems to be equal in tone like brazilian rosewood)?

Edit:
Let me know when you have uploaded your pics...

All pao ferro is the way to go on the neck - I don't have one but I will someday. As far as tone, just get the right pickups and a good bridge and it will sound awesome.

Yes, pau ferro seems to be equal in tone like maple but it is not exactly the vintage look I like `60 Strat for. On the other hand it will look and sound killer...
Tortoise is not my choise, white on white or mint on white body seems to be better for me.

+1 on olympic white/mint pickguard

I was going to say it, but I saw someone else beat me to it  :laughing7:

my mint on white

it has a parchment tip now. that plastic wouldn't soak up any coffee  :laughing7:

I'd go with a canary neck and a macassar ebony board. that gives you a tone similar to a maple neck and maple fingerboard, but with a bit more conventional looks. mac. ebony is from a distance a bit like rosewood (a huge distance :P ) and if you don't look well, canary is like maple with a vintage satin gloss finish.

What's the point of having it "chambered"?  Unless you're going for a hollow-body tone (which I don't like), it doesn't make sense to me.

6230 frets are way too small for my taste.

Pics are updated in the strat forum. I cannot comment on Ziricote's tone but I can say this, maple/rosewood is ALWAYS going to be a home run for that 60s strat tone.

Well I would say that the Pau Ferro neck is a great choice.  It is similar to maple, but no two pieces of any wood are the same so keep that in mind.  It would look good, not exactly a period piece, but it plays so nicely you probably won't notice.  As far as pickups, I could only suggest the Callaham/Fralin SRV/H Specials about 2/3 of the way down that page.  Not cheap, but they are what you asked for.  Also, don't forget the Mary Kay finish.  It is another that is a knock out when done in the style you are suggesting.

If you put an all Pau Ferro neck on it, then it is not a period replica.  The Mary Kay is just another white finish to think about and if it is not close enough to his concept then discard the idea.  But, it would be a shame if no one brought it up.

If you're gonna make it 60s style, that really limits the neck/fretboard woods to maple/rosewood.  However, the SRV sig model which is based on a '57 body and 60's neck has a Pau Ferro fretboard.  I don't know what his was originally.  The Total Vintage is visually the closest to the 60s pre-CBS necks; no skunk stripe, no truss rod adjustment on the peghead, and 21 frets.

My vote would be for:
body:
-Alder in Sherwood Green Metallic
-Mint pickguard
-white controls and covers

neck:
-Total Vintage Construction
-Maple with Rosewood or Pau Ferro

pickups and hardware:
-era appropriate

Wait, are we saying the style of a guitar built in the 60's, (which era? Didn't CBS come out late 60s?) or one that might be used in the 60s? Late 50s, for example.

Excellent point Max.  IDK for sure but I assumed (you know what happens when you assume) it was the 60s/'62 American Vintage Series, Pre-CBS he was referring to.  Something like this for example.
