Just a fair warning to anyone with a Firebird build or looking to build one -- the neck+pocket combo is too thick for the SKB hard case. The depth of the case at that point matches, of course, that of a real Firebird one-piece construction. As such, the depth of the indentation is not deep.

Anyways, since there's no better alternative that doesn't involve dishing out cash for a custom case, I'm going to be attacking this thing with some tools this weekend. The plan is to cut the felt in a way such that it stays as a flap, and I can remove some of the underlying foam/padding. We'll see.

Mine is in a Bass hardcase ..... only a cheap one thou and it doesn't travel anywhere.

All fits ok  :icon_thumright:

on the SKB cases that I have you can compress that padding with a tool fairly easily.  I used the handle of a large screwdriver to make my Warmoth Fender XII fit in an SKB case.

Interesting. Yeah I noticed that it seems to be high density foam under the velvet, so i was already looking at mashing it down. Unfortunately, it seems like the spot I need to modify is too thick to simply mash it flat. It needs to pretty much be flush with the bottom of the body cavity in the case.

Regardless, I'm gonna take care of it this weekend, and I'm gonna make sure there's not a gaping hole. It should look more or less natural.

I have my Warmoth Firebird in a Gibson Firebird case and it fits as snug as a bug in a rug.
Oh, I just realized, the G * b so n F!re b!rd will likely be bleeped.  Oh well, you know what I mean...
