warmoth defines Standard Thin's measurements as : .800" 12th Fret- .850"

gibson defines slim taper as : .8” at the 1st fret and .875” at the 12th

but i find gibson's slim taper slimmer than warmoth's standard thin!

btw where is this .800" measured?

if i wrap a tape around the 1st fret including the sides of the fret board but excluding the playing part i get something like 2 10/16".

The .8 is measured at the nut (or maybe first fret?) and it's the depth of the neck, from the center of the back of the neck to the center of the top of the fingerboard.  You really need calipers to measure it
.

I would bet that the Gibson measurements include the finish on it while while Warmoth does not. .8 is measured between the nut and first fret to back of the neck.
