Hard to wait, but velocity on order.  Have my EVH humbuckers ready to go....Neck is tele gibson conversion.  Abalone dots.. It's suppose to be vintage tint gloss.. not super vintage tint it seems to me, but I like it.  Standard thin.  Putting it on a velocity swamp ash with quilt maple.  2 Humbuckers, floyd rose trem.  I am going to stain it amber.... just waiting on the body.  I'm so impatient!

The juxtaposition of that baby seat and a fresh build combine to give me hope for the future.  The very near future.

Looking forward to your build!

Nice so Gibson scale on Fender body/neck style right? That should be a lot of fun. Looks absolutely gorgeous. :headbang:

Haha, cheers  :eek:ccasion14:

The '90s were a... simpler.. time.

And now you also need to try a 24" scale to see if that's even better (like I did) or if the 24,75" scale is the right scale for you.

24 ey.. interesting.. I just got some quilt maple scrap boards to monkey with dye.. I really want to get a nice amber dye on the quilt maple top.. I'll post my trials.  I'm sure I'll make a mess but that's what the scrap is for.

Depending on what color represents "amber" to you, you might have good luck with General Finishes water-based dye stains.  I used their amber as the basis for this rag-applied burst.  I used their ebony stain at full strength and sanded back, then applied the amber.  But if you're after something closer to the color that Warmoth represents as its transparent amber or amber dye, you'll need a lot more orange in it than this one has.

That is a pretty body!  I am looking for a little more.. how do I put it.. like almost the orange yellow brown you get when looking into a nice IPA about the bottom 1/3 of the glass if that makes sense.  Gotta run... getting thirsty! :eek:ccasion14:

Are congratulations in order?  It can be done, but if you're anything like me, giving yourself permission to dedicate the time to it is the biggest hurdle. The way I see it, it's a hobby that I can pursue at home, in the garage or the next room, rather than having to actually be away from the family. My job keeps me away two weeks at a time as it is, a hobby that lets me stay close is a blessing  :icon_thumright:

I have 3 kids, Verne. They are great.  Hoping one of them wants to shred... then i can pass on about 20 guitars... (I have bought or made a few and my dad has been a collector and pro player since the 1950's) So I have everything from a 59' bassman and 65 Gibson L5 to partscasters.. keeps a guy sane you know!
Cheers,
Mark

65 Gibson L5

Sounds like quite a collection! I've got two young'ns myself, a 9 year old and a 5 month old. When we had our first, we had no money, so I worked every hour I could get for a couple of years to keep the ship afloat. Guitars fell pretty far down the priority list. That picture has changed in the past several years, for which we are quite thankful, so with the newest addition I've managed to continue making time for guitars. Which, as you say, keeps a guy sane.

I too hope that one of them will get the bug and share this affliction with me. My dad is a guitar guy and I've loved having that with him, I'd love to experience it from the other side.

Haha, not yet!  We haven't been married but 4 months and I'm getting pressed in on all sides lol.

I like the one on the right the best so far.  It is orange sanded back and an amber/yellow over top.  The other is brown sanded back.
