Vox AC30-like tone

Hello,

I'm looking to buy a new amp, but I'm not sure what to buy. I've played various amps, including Vox AC30 and Fender Deluxe Reverb (and other blackface models) and have concluded that I want something like that. I want something that is sort of a cross between an AC30 and a Deluxe Reverb but I can't figure out what qualifies as this. I like the crisp, clean Deluxe Reverb tone and the AC30 crunchy, warm drive tone. My budget is somewhat limited, preferably something around $700-$800.

Thanks.

Lots of amps at the price point that sound like the vox...but it is kind of hard to get that Fender clean out or much else but a Fender.

Mesa has a new product...TransAtlantic that may be worth looking at but may be out of your price range.

May be work getting the Fender and and pedal to get the Vox crunch you are looking for

THIS, its a Trainwreck Rocket Clone (An AC30 TB but with better low end). Google it

A Matchless DC 30, but for your budget, a Ceriatone Dizzy 30 (clone of the Matchless)  It looks to be a bit more than you want to spend (within $200 for the head ready to go) so it is about what you are looking for price wise.  Tone wise I think it sounds pretty close to what you are describing.

PS, I am waiting for my tax return to order one of these, then I will have most of the amp sounds I am looking for.  Most...

+1 on the Ceriatone!  I've heard a number of their guitar amps, and am always impressed.  But what do I know......I'm a bassist  :laughing7:

LOVE my ceriatone and I will maybe end up with a second, bigger one at some point. I know it's an uncool suggestion, but head down to your local mega music shop and play a Vox VT50, they cost about half of your budget and have good emulations of Vox and tweed fender tones, and are loud enough to do whatever you need them to do including gig. I think their emulations are the best around and definitely worth an open-minded listen.

I heard around $800.  Knowing MESA...it will not be cheap.  Some vids of it at the NAMM show now on youtube

I can't wait for the Mayfly reply.  I'm speculating and hoping he will not only tell us what sounds like them, but tell you what is responsible for the sound so a mod to a non-Vox might get close.

this MESA is a new item...its claim to fame is to have fender like cleans on one channel and british like tone one the other.  Something new I have heard good things about but have not tried yet.  It was just introduced at NAMM>

Yeah, like it said, it is barely like a Mesa. Well actually, it has a Single-ended Class A setting, a Vox Top Boost setting, a Tweed (but actually like a BF) setting, a Marshall Brit-like setting, and a Mesa-Boogie setting. And the best part is........ it's all tube!!! That's right, no digital modelling or Solid-State whatsoever!

Anyway, I'm pretty set on this. The last video said its starting price is $899 and GuitarCenter always marks down their prices, so it's within my price range, which I've expanded.

Thanks all for helping me!
