Anyone else find it strange, a guitar that couldn't win GOM wins GOTY?

Seems to me a few of the GOTY entries had entered the GOM more than once before winning, so I don't see anything weird about that at all.

People's tastes change, too. I mean, 2 years ago I wouldn't have traded a pair of old socks for a Tele. Now I not only have one, it's become my favorite guitar.

You're welcome.

Ha, Gary, I'd forgotten that you'd seen the guitar before. I remembered Hannah had, anyways, thanks guys!

Congrats Max. I see you've got your corner stamp already.  I was having a terrible time trying to find something to add to it but I'm still new to transparencies.

I changed my vote from first round to reset, either way it sure wasn't for a tele :P

A dismal 47 votes for GOTY  ..... Must have lost lots in the re-set or thats the worst turn out of the year  :toothy11:

Thanks to whoever voted for me  :icon_thumright: ..... Hang on a second  :icon_scratch: ..... that was me  :icon_biggrin:

Congrats Max ..... now I know your secret !!
Stick a Fender sticker on the Warmoth headstock  :icon_jokercolor:  :laughing7:

I'm a little surprised at some votes ie: Justatele, PT, DBU
But ... most of all at Eric's  :o

Oh well, thats the way the cookie crumbles.
GOTY 2011 .... Max  :party07:

I have been telling you guys for years that once you own a Tele it is all over. Hey I have a lot of guitars but there is just something about a Tele that makes it a great guitar to play. and they are planks of wood with a neck that all.....
Somehow though they grab your soul. I think it is the ability to abuse them for the sound and they do seem to have the sound. I just always wonder how the first attempt by someone who knew basically nothing about guitars could end up as a product that 60 plus years later could still be such a viable design?
Funniest thing is that Gibson and the other guitar makers laughed at the design and said it would not last.

I still wouldn't want a real Fender Tele, or anything that tried to duplicate one too close. But, the design itself can be juiced up pretty easily into a pretty nice guitar.

not to hijack, but I do not think I have seen final pictures.
I was out of town a lot the last few months so I may have missed them

Are you talking about my Tele? If so, I'm not happy with the shots I have, and they're not representative anyway. I'll get some more today once the sun comes out. It's a black body w/ black hardware, so it doesn't photograph well indoors. At least not with the equipment I have at my immediate disposal.

Congrats Max!
As far as turn out.  I am sure the reset didn't help.  That and putting the GOTM on its own section affects the voting as well.  The general section gets most of the traffic.

It always shows up in "unread topics".

Oh yeah? I can tell you in all seriousness that I would rather never play a guitar again than ever touch a Telecaster.

IMHO, they are the fugliest, cheapest and worst conceived design of a musical instrument EVER. If I had three wishes from a Genie in a bottle
I'm pretty sure one the wishes would be to magically have the Telecaster never exist in the first place. There's nothing 'viable' about it. The ONLY
reason it exsits now it that it was such a cheap POS back in the day that it was literally the only thing poor, starving musicians could afford.

and congrats again max! for making something.. horrible.. apparently.

I like my teles..  :icon_jokercolor:
