Volume pedal, choice, impedance, placement...

Hey guys,

I'm trying to decide on which volume pedal to buy.

I'm hesitating between the Boss FV-500H and the Ernie Ball VP Jr (6180) but all that fuss about impedance is killing me.

Here is what I'd like to be able to do.

I've got one passive Strat with Texas Specials and one active with Lace Sensors and the Fender Mid-Boost circuit in it.

I'd like to be able to place the pedal in any of these 2 situations:
1) instrument -> korg tuner pedal -> compessor -> wah -> volume -> amp
2) instrument -> korg tuner pedal -> compessor -> wah -> amp effect send -> volume -> chorus -> delay -> effect return

So, what pedal impedance should I been looking for, would any be suitable for both situations ?

Thank you in advance.

The tuner probably has a modern buffer on the switch, anything after that will not see the pickups directly.  The other pedals might not play well together, as sometimes happens.  But the volume pedal will not cause any shenanigans with the pickups.  Also with the impedances on things, the in are generally high and the outs are generally lower.  That is not always the case, but for most of the things we deal with it is reasonable to assume.  I doubt that after that tuner being first you will notice much effect of the volume pedals impedance.  Just a suggestion, you might want to move the wah to the front of the chain.

Wahs and Fuzz pedals really like to be number one in the chain.  Not sure if the active circuit futz's with that, but the touch dynamics of your playing through the pickups affect how the Wah and Fuzz pedals sound.  After a pedal or two, the touch is gone, and those two pedals tend not to sound as good.  I usually have Compressors at the end of the chain because of what they do to the signal.  Echo/delay/chorus/flange/reverb effects tend to like the effects loop after all of the dirt has been made.  However, there is no set in stone formula.  Play with it and go with what sounds best to you.
