Vegatrem install

So I had bought a vegatrem to install on a tele/strat hybrid body. I had it routed for an American strat bridge. However, when I went to install the bridge plate, the screws would not go straight in no matter what. It’s like the spacing on the bridge plate is too narrow, even though it’s supposed to fit an American Strat route. What can I do, if anything?IMG_4170.jpeg

Are we talking a 2 point style tremolo or a 6 screw style tremolo? I used to have a 6 screw style VegaTrem tremolo on my prs se custom 22 and in that particular scenario, the holes aligned without issue.

Left screw does not appear to be drilled perpendicular. With the screw backed out, is the hole in the wood centered in the hole in the bridge??

It is drilled perpendicular. That’s the bridge plate pulling it that way because the hole in the plate does not quite make it to the center of the hole in the body.

What studs did you use?

And I would also ask Vega-Trem for support in your case, since Warmoths routing is only designed to fit the American Standard Fender® Tremolo, while the Vega-Trem is designed to retrofit different 2-point style trems.

I did reach out a few days ago but I haven’t heard anything back yet. The studs are standard fender American, which the vegatrem is supposed to fit.

The bushing were installed in the picture. It’s like the bridge plate screw spacing is slightly too narrow.
Or the bushings drilled too wide.
Yes. There’s a set for the Gotoh sized studs and American sized studs. Only the American sizes fits and we’re installed in the picture.

Okay... though of course from that picture none of us can see the details hence the questions of myself and others.

What is the center-to-center spacing of the bushings in your body?
This is now the thing to check.

Remove the vegatrem part and take a photo of the centre to centre measurements with a ruler.

Then if for some reason the bushings have been drilled too wide then you will have to contact Warmoth customer service if the body is out of spec and can send them a link to the thread.

I know you couldn’t see what bushings were installed. Didn’t mean to come off snarky lol

Here’s a pic with a ruler

Well going by the photo the centre to centre looks close to 55 - 56 mm and the spec for the mounting stud span is 2.2" (55.9mm). So the body looks right.

Can we assume the screws and adaptors go in straight without the mounting bar?
If so the body cannot be off.

Have you measured the holes across the bar also?
Are there any burrs in the holes of the mounting bar?
If so they might need filing or if it is too narrow overall it looks like contacting Vegatrem would be needed.
