Heres a breakdown
Lyrics 50%

Music 50%

If i write the lyrics and 2 write the tune i get 50% they get 25% each thats assuming they are the copyright owners
so if i write the lyrics and 10guys write the tune i get 50% they get 5% etc if i am a co writer of the muci i would get my 50%
for the lyrics and my share say 5% of the music or composition.

Only the song writers get royalties not the performers who wrote nothing.

...okay.

Ever heard of Bernie Leadon or Randy Meisner?  They haven't had to work a day since 1975 because they played on a record that goes Platinum every year.

...or Matthew Fisher from Procol Harum?

Well look at Paul Mc Cartney and John Lennon
the rest get paid by volume sales of the record after roalties as little a 4Cents per sale unless they were just doing the session of which they have already been paid they get Zero

should read .04 of a cent

Changing formats, I worked with a guy who was a child actor (because he had an identical twin), and had a speaking role in "What's Love got to do with it."  He still gets residuals, albeit not enough to live on or even buy a Coke once a month.  His line, "Stop beatin' my mama!"

Like Mayfly said though, we'd have the same problem with his originals because there's a copyright, even though it's him with the copyright.
But since Mayfly owns the copyright (I assume?), there's nothing to worry about unless he enforces it. And since Mayfly basically donated it to the project, he's basically giving up that copyright protection. :icon_thumright:

Yep.  I hereby approve the original song that I'm about to submit to be used in this project and do not expect mechanical royalties from reproduction of it.

There ya go.

New song submitted.

Song name: Catherine
Songwriter/copyright holder:  Me
Artist: Cornflower Blue

Let me know if you get it  :headbang:

Song Submitted  :icon_thumright:

This is a track which my work colleague, Jon Fordham and I wrote one night in an acoustic jam session after work one night.  We decided we liked it and so recorded it.  Jon's been singing and playing guitar and writing songs for years, and asked me if I'd like along.  Let me know what you think when this all comes together.
I guess I'd call it folk rock.  :dontknow:

Song name: If You Just Do Nothing
Songwriter/copyright holder:  Me and Jon Fordham (Jon's cool about Copyrights)
Artist: Jon Fordham and I
Guitar: 8-Ball Strat through my Cornford Hurricane. No additional effects.
Voice: Jon Fordham (I wont sing, I got barred from singing in my last band  :icon_tongue: )
Other instruments:  Bass: Jon, Acoustic Guitar:Jon and Jim, Drums: Jon and I slapping our acoustic guitars.

Rouse, let me know that the e-mail arrives

Cheers all.

Jim
