Tuning a 19 inch scale guitar to fifths

Since 19 inches is in the "octave mandolin" range of scale, does anyone think that a six string 19 inch scale guitar could be tuned to fifths? That is could the two extra strings be used as I could always just leave two strings off and treat it like a octave mando.

How would you do it? String gauges? Ideas, insults, inspirations?

I'd be tempted to try an all 4ths and see how easy that would be.
