Ok - that creed one is pretty great but go here http://www.wired.com/underwire/2008/02/watch-the-parod/ and check out the Maiden video - wait till Eddie comes out! - and Clapton for a shredding sax and keys section. I think Creed takes it though.

The Maiden one is pretty good too... :laughing11:

Hmm...

Ritchie Blackmore
Buck Dharma (Donald Roeser)
EJ
Steve Morse

(this list subject to change without notification)

Yeah, yeah. He copied. I guess I couldn't think of anyone else and as far as people I respect, he's up there. I'm gonna add Billy Gibbons and Ace. (replace Jimmy, though I love him, John Mayer).

1. Michael Balzary
2. Reginald Arvizu
3. John Entwistle
4. Gabe Nelson
5. Marcus Miller

:guitarplayer2:

Props if you know 1, 2 or 4 without searching. #1 should be easy enough.

I know Flea and Fieldy well enough...  but I'd have to search for Gabe Nelson... :toothy11:

Gabe is the one responsible for me playing bass. I was listening to his band and thought, Wow, bass can actually be a lead instrument.

Anyone know who Gabe is? Hint, alt-rock. Emphasis on 'alt'.

The first time I rushed home from school to watch TRL, back in junior high, and saw the "Short Skirt / Long Jacket" video, I knew I wanted to play bass. It took me most of a decade to finally buy one, though.

post your top 5 fav guitarist. the ones you can listen to all day. the ones you wish you could play like or compose like.

Hmm.  Almost two different questions.  Who can I listen to all day and who do I wish I could play like.
Guitarists I can listen to all day:
1. Akira Takasaki
2. Jake E. Lee (Ozzy era)
3. Alex Lifeson
4. Allan Holdsworth
5. Andy Summers (pre and post The Police)

Guitarist I wish I could play like (or specfically have actively studied/tried to understand their works)
1. Allan Holdsworth
2. Andy Summers
3. Steve Morse (for his versatility)
4. Paul Gilbert
5. Alex Lifeson

Just a few great guitarists not mentioned ...

Adrian Vandenberg
Steve Lukather
Neil Schon
Alvin Lee
Leslie West
James Burton

etc ...

Hmm .. something like
  • Mark Knopfler
  • Richard Benett (Guitarist in Mark's band the 96'ers)
  • David Knopfler (lil' bro)
  • Drew Brees (Does he even play? I don't care!)
  • Lastly I'll throw in Warren Haynes for good measure!

No, I'm not a MK fan  :laughing7:

EDIT: ARRR Almost forgot GUTHRIE!:::
